Tarasenko played 115 KHL games before he turned 19. He scored 49 points in those games. Kuznetsov played 79 games and scored 40 points before he turned 19. Kaprizov played 84 games and scored 35 points. Panarin played 44 games and scored 17 points.

Michkov has 65 KHL games and 44 points so far. He's 19 in 30 days.
I can’t watch him play anymore due to the knowledge that the Habs passed on him

Definitely a great prospect. Still is quite clear the KHL is several steps behind where it was in the 00s though.

Michkov being a first liner in the NHL seems inevitable.

How do you feel about the Swiss league?
Panarin played up to 2015, Kaprizov 2020.

Its definitely a good league, but its closer to the AHL than NHL.. Guys like Weal and Barber were ppg players in the AHL and not quality NHLers and now they are ppg players in the KHL.

Obviously its still very impressive what MIchkov is doing especially at his age, but its not that different than what Savoie, Wright, Kulich etc are doing in the AHL. I think all of those guys have a really good chance to be very good NHLers though.

I think out of these guys only Kulich is among the top scorers in the league, others are different in that way.

Yeah and Voronkov scored just 1 point in 4 AHL games. There is no chance he will score in the NHL...

On the other hand Galchenyuk was PPG in AHL just a year ago...

What about Chibrikov? He's currently lighting up the AHL yet was a total scrub on a mediocre Spartak roster last year.

The fact remains, it's stupid to compare the strength of 2 leagues by assessing the stats of just a handul of players who played in both leagues. There are so many other factors that enter into the equation.

Sochi is back to its last season KHL record form. Really tough to watch. Michkov is still getting points though.
The issue is that it might mean his season ends at the end of February, as Rostov is clearly not making the playoffs in the VHL and Kapitan is currently outside of the play-in spot in the MHL.

Maybe he'll convince SKA to terminate his contract and go to NHL...

Every team other than Chicago that passed on this kid is going to regret it.
Why would Anaheim or Columbus regret taking big strong centers who are projected to be stars? Michkov may end up a star as well, but a high end center is a much more important piece, especially for both of those teams and where they’re at.
