I’m patient with Reinbacher. Not with the Habs poor decision making.

I'm more worried about Slaf then Reinbacher, but Bobrov said they were looking for NHLers and he found them, just a question of how good they will be. If they end up bottom line/pairing types that of course will hurt the rebuild in a major way.

To me the best news is that they seemed to have learned from the mistake of rushing Slaf to the NHL by letting Reinbacher progress more slowly.

Under MB they just made way too many mistakes and it cost people their jobs, only time will tell if they got rid of enough people the 1st time or will they need to move on from several more of MB's hires since outside of Timmins, MB and Dom, just about everybody is still here from the MB era.

If he pulverizes Ovechkin‘s D+1 record and leads the KHL by December, I would consider it additional useful data to the accumulated intelligence on Michkov.

Conclusions can be drawn 5-10 years into each players respective NHL careers. Yes his PPG as an 18/19 year old in a pro league is impressive but there are no guarantees that will translate into the NHL as we've seen successful offensive KHL players unable to stick with NHL clubs before.

This is gibberish. Michkov is not just a "successful KHL player." He is producing at an elite rate for his age.

You don't need to wait 5-10 years to draw inferences. For instance, Lafreniere is three years removed from being drafted and in his fourth season, and we can infer that he's been disappointing. Even if he breaks out and scores 90 points when he is 25, we can still say he's been disappointing compared to his expectations to date.

Maybe its semantics but
Lafreniere 1st overall 2020: 219 g 92 pts +5, 27 po games
Dach 3rd overall 2019: 212 games 99 pts, 9 po games

yet one is viewed as bust-disappointing while the other’s injury is major blow to the team as one of top 6.

The overall three year trend and trajectory matters too though

I’m patient and I want to give the benefit of the doubt to Reinbacher, but by this December if it’s already clear that Reinbacher needs to absolutely become Adam Fox or Roman Josi to make the pick worthwhile, people need to lose their job.
It is not possible to know that by December

He will not lead the KHL in pts by December and "pulverizing" stats from 20 years ago in a completely different circumstances is not a good indicator

I remember Ovechkin getting those stats in his D+1 and it was the confirmation for the hockey world of how an outstanding player he was and confirmation of his draft stock. BY DECEMBER!!!!. Not only that, I remember Malkin being at the Michkov pace at D+3 and one of the big news in the NHL at the time was that the Pens were set for the future with Crosby and this phenom ”destroying“ the KHL. BY DECEMBER!!!!

I’ve watched everything on the Internet last season on him and I missed viewing one game this season. He’s the most special guy out of Russia since Ovechkin and Malkin.

For Malkin it was D+2 season, in his D+3 he was in NHL. He was also a leader on a championship contender team and made russian best on best Olympic roster as a 2nd line center if I am not mistaken.

Now, there was no KHL back in those days. It was a russian superleague. KHL was established in 2008 I think. It is also much worse than it used to be in it's glory days. So, I doubt you will get your confirmation by December. In current circumstances, most likely he has to play in NHL before "heads are rolling"

SKA and CSKA played in a league under a different acronym, presumably now dumbed down, the top scorers had 61 points, now they have what 62 points. A different world.

PPG player with Sochi, 7 goals and 7 assists in 14 games. SKA has zero PPG players, other than one guy who’s only played 3 games. Hard to believe he’s actually not good enough to make that team - if Rotenberg liked him, and gave him top offensive minutes, he’d probably be tearing it up there. He’s small and his game isn’t the most complete, but he’s massively talented offensively, very valuable player with a coach who deploys him properly.

You’re right, let’s not draw any conclusions about McDavid just yet he hasn’t even been in the league for 10 years. Could still bust.
