Collin Graf is a dynamic offensive player and is currently second in points behind Fantilli. He just turned 20. I expect he’ll be drafted this year or signed by an NHL team whenever he makes himself available.

I guess some team might take a flyer but average skating doesn't help.

Here is a write up on him 23 of the top NCAA free agents for the 2022-23 season

Collin Graf, RW, 20 years old, 6’0″, 181 lbs
After transferring to Quinnipiac in the summer, Collin Graf continues to score at a high rate in the NCAA. He is the shooter on the power play and typically plays on the left half-wall. Graf has a good one-timer but also sees the ice well with the man advantage and snaps passes with the look of a pro.
His skating is average but his release is the thing to be most excited about. It will be interesting to see how his game translates to pro hockey and he may be back at Quinnipiac for his junior season if he doesn’t garner enough NHL interest this season. At just 20 years old, there’s reason to be excited about what Graf is doing in the NCAA.

Also wondering if a player like Graf (or De Jong) benefits from playing in a weaker league like the ECAC? And how do scouts adopt their evaluation to compensate?

He's outscoring his next team mate by 18 points, which makes me think he's carrying his team.

Anybody have more insight into him?

They certainly do - until they don't.

It's really important to understand the league you're scouting before you just dive in. When I get any sort of special assignment outside of my normal territory, I take the time to watch several games beforehand...what's the pace? How are the games played? What kind of tactics are employed, generally? How is it officiated? What's the quality of competition? How many lines does each team have, legitimately? etc. etc.

Then you push that down into the player eval...you have to be really careful about what you're looking at. But you have to be even more careful about the scalability...how does the game translate to a more legitimate level of play? Are there are enough parts that make it palatable with the right development?

Graf has some skill. Not very dynamic, not much deception to his game. How adaptable is he? Looks fairly limited from that perspective in my passing views...pro? Sure. NHLer? Not sure I see that.

Qu retaining it’s entire first line. Graf plus Lipkin and Quillan. Would be surprised if they all didn’t declare pro after this year though.

This guy has been floating around 2 PPG in the NCAA all season. Good size and still young at only 21 years old. Is he the real deal?

Yeah hes the real deal. Just looks like a late bloomer. Played in an inferior league to the USHL before college and just was unlikely to be on any nhl draft radar to even be properly scouted. Huge part of a national champion last year and one of the best ncaa players in the country now as an ‘02. He will definitely be in demand as an NCAA UFA and have his chance.

I would guest Bos or DET. Would love to see MTL go after him but I don't think he will choose a Canadian team aswell.

Do you guy have a comp for him ? Seems like he's one of the best NCAA UFA that I've seen in a long time.
