It is a sign that russian hockey is still at top level, although not as it once was. But at least this gives hope for the future unlike what the A-team has done :)

I don't know. There is just one gold. And actual NHL stars are those who won in 2011. After that I can't say that we had top players.

Would Russians give up the 6 straight Bronze/Silvers for one gold medal in that stretch? Not trying to start anything I am actually curious what you guys think.

I think medals throughout gives a better indication of that your system is on the right path rather than having a gold once and the rest 4-8th places. Imagine if Czech republic would win next year, wouldn´t say much about how well their future looks still, just 1 generation. At least that's what I believe. :)

Edit: Now, I think this because for me Juniors isn´t as important to win, it's fun and all and gives an indication about the hockey in the country and the future, but if you would ask me about World Championships, Olympics etc. I would of course go for the gold. Those are tournaments you want to win imo.

A noteworthy streak, however, there was never any doubt that Russian hockey is at the very top level, along with a few other countries.

Russia has been consistently one of the best at the U20 level.

the thing is that nobody ever projects Russia to win or even medal before every tournament and somehow we always find a way to do that.

Russia is putting together quality teams, no doubt. But I am tired of seeing them lose key matches in semis and finals.

I think about 95% of posters in the predictions thread projected Russia to finish 4th. It was pretty funny.

It's an impressive streak but outside of a few guys from 2011 and 2012 there aren't many names that jump out at you. Too early to tell perhaps.
