No more talk of numbered lines in the NHL sense, they wont exist. We have colour 5-man units (they each wear their colour and practise together during trainging)

Red Unit:
Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Kovalev
A.Markov-D.Markov

Blue Unit:
Kharitonov-Yashin-Sushinsky
Gonchar-Volchenkov

*Kulyash(sub) is part of the blue unit in training

White Unit:
Frolov-Kozlov-Korolyuk
Vishnevsky-Zhukov

*Taratukhin(sub) is part of the white unit in training

Yellow Unit:
Ovechkin-Malkin-Afinogenov
Tyutin-Kasparitis

So, Olympic hockey is 20 skaters and 2 goalies dressed per game?

And this also means that defensemen won't have more icetime than forwards. Interesting.

People in Japanese hockey are split on whether to go with forward lines and defensive pairs or five man units.

Most teams play the NHL way with one more offensive line than defensive pairing and just dress one extra defenceman + forward that get limited time on the penalty kill and such. For most teams the defencemen still get more ice time, Russia is different.

Well if you're concerned with just how yellow this unit is, im sure Mr. Ovechkin and Mr. Malkin could show you ;) :

Check out the Official Turin Thread on the Russia board, there are some practise pics of all the color units... but it mainly concentrates on Ovechkin.

And here I thought that name was due to the extreme youth, and inevitably, training pants ..... ;)

Seriously, though, they look like extras for "Yeah, Bananas!"
