Fabbro putting up Broberg numbers in Columbus, lol. Maybe we should have moved on that and/or made an offer to Columbus straight away.

One phone call to Trotz and we could have sealed the deal. Heck, just a text message.

“U up? 6th for Fabbro?”

But really it’s on Trotz. Did he even shop him before throwing him away like stale donuts?

Did you know you can't trade a player you just got off waivers? They have to go back through the waiver priority first and see if anyone else claimed them first.

Canucks board in semi meltdown mode since Hronek got injured and they might have to play Desharnais on the first pairing with Hughes.

lol I got into a Twitter exchange with Canucks fans in the offseason who were saying Desharnais would be a great stay-at-home partner for Quinn Hughes.

There's no reasoning with them.

Did that article just link us to Bowen Byram and Owen Power? That is complete non-sense.
Not really. If you listen to the segment, marek brings up Buffalo as a team in general that any team (not necessarily Oilers) could maybe go pick some assets off of cause of how much pressure there is internally to make the playoffs. Implying I think firings and huge changes could happen if they don’t make it.

Correct, which makes Stan staying on the sidelines there extra stupid. What a useless hire so far.

I'll disagree with getting Fabbro. I think we have our sites set on something bigger.

Getting Fabbro closes the door on that.

Fabbro was always a top 4 defenseman and that was clear to anyone who actually watched him play. Not going to name names about some confidently wrong takes on him.

Probably an understatement, but so far Trotz seems like a much better coach than he is a GM.
Said this a while ago. He is gonna fall flat on his face imo . He won't last his contract. Already made some huge blunders question is will he learn from the mistakes.

Marek says the Oilers can make a trade right now if they wanted to. But prices will come down at the TDL.

But…. Do prices go down at the TDL?

Sellers market now. TDL day is a buyers market.

It’s Jeff Marek. Take it with a dump truck full of salt. Guy only is happy if he suggests the off the wall shit and stupid rule suggestions or painting the ice blue. Smokes way too much weed. Never apologized for the John Scott situation he created.

Lurking around other teams trade boards. The amount of teams looking for 4RHD is insane. How many years have we tried to find one and failed?

Should bite the bullet and put together a package for Jiricek. If he works out it’ll solve a problem for many many years to come.

Maybe JT can yell at Hronek to heal faster.
He's too busy playing Xbox on his couch and "resetting"

How the f*** did Fabbro get to waivers. You mean to tell me Trotz couldn’t have squeezed a 5th round pick for a RHD paid 2.5M per year? One call to Bowman and he gets atleast a 5th for him.
Lot of people on our board put fabbro down lol. This is why you don't trust much of what people say here

I’m not a 100% sure but I don’t think this is exactly correct.

I’m pretty sure the player has to be offered to any other teams that originally put a claim in. So let’s say two other teams after Columbus put a waiver claim in when Nashville originally put him on waivers, he would have to be offered to those two teams first to see if they still wanted to claim him and if he’s unclaimed then Columbus could trade him.

Lots of people said we needed to do what we could to claim him too.
The only thing that made it difficult was his cap hit.

Correct. If Columbus is the only team that put in a claim, he is free game to be traded.

Not necessarily true. We have seen plenty of traded deadline days where the prices have gone up cause contending teams get desperate. Some of the best in season trades have happened well before the deadline. You might pay a bit more but thats cause you are getting them for far more games.

Generally it’s the case that in season prices are higher / see bolded above. More sellers = lower prices that day typically.

New GM, same BS- "wahhh it's too hard and expensive to make deals right now". Meanwhile Utah, SJ, Seattle, Washington and Pittsburgh have all made trades of varying complexity for roster players already and Columbus just stole a top four D on waivers. Bowman looks to be another Chiarelli/Holland who only got the job because of success years ago and has no interest in earning his paycheck. Demoralizing.
