Arvid+Pickard+2nd for Saros would be money in money out.

Still have Kane on LTIR. 2025 1st+St Louis 2nd+Stecher for Rakell
I think there's zero chance Pred do that. Change the 2nd to a 1st and maybe you get a conversation started. It almost looks like you're giving up more for Rakell than for Saros lol.

Yeah they did and they're back to normal now. Not ideal.
It is encouraging in that we are an older team that likely is saving something in the tank for the playoffs. It's common. So as bad as things are, they are likely to improve.

Heck even with Bouchard, he's been a seive in defense but tightened it up a lot in the playoffs. I'm not that worried about it. Draisiatl used to be "lazy" as well mid season for extended stretches

I'm worried about goaltending but I will give some leeway for the duldrums of the season. But there has never really been a great span for them. The hot streaks seem really dependant on us playing crazy good defense, and the stats speak for themselves

I'm losing hope that we get a goalie but I'll hold off on judgment until the deadline passes

I'm sorry but this is a terrible mindset. "We'll just turn it up in the playoffs, no problem." Is this why they keep stumbling out of the gate and have to play catchup for half the season?

Hockey is a game of habits and the ones we're seeing lately do not point to the team being a Stanley Cup contender. If they were playing well and losing, you wouldn't like it but at least you'd understand it. The way they're playing lately they might slide into third place in the division. The Kings are a mere two points back with two games in hand.

If the Oilers have to venture to Vegas again for round 2 (assuming they get past round 1), they won't be going any further. They need to right the ship right now.

The concerning thing with Bouchard this year is he usually starts the season playing like an idiot (turnovers, lazy play, lack of attention to detail), but cleans it up by November then never looks back the rest of the year.

This year he started like ass, got to the level of "just ok" for a stretch, and now is playing worse than the start of the year and it's not getting any better.

On the DFO Rundown, Frank Serevalli said it's not a foregone conclusion that the Oilers spend Kane's LTIR. Gregor pushed back and said he can confirm Kane isn't playing in March and might do a conditioning stint for the last two weeks. Serevalli said Kane's a wild card and the organization isn't confident in Kane not coming back during the regular season. Serevalli seemed to suggest Kane might force his way in for the last two weeks of the regular season, but someone might have heard that differently that I did.

If Kane plays at all this season some jobs need to be opened.

Ekholm - Bouchard
Kulak - Klingberg
Stetcher - Emberson

This is what the Oilers d-corp looks like tonight without Darnell Nurse. Now substitute the loss of any of Ekholm, Bouchard, Nurse and even Kulak and it reinforces a significant vulnerability to this team. Can skate through a loss in one-off regular play but hard ice, physical grind playoff series play and it's a recipe for extinction.

Teams can hide and protect average goaltending behind strong, deep defensive corps and team defending play. They don't survive in playoff hockey with weak defense corps and average, inconsistent goaltending. They absolutely need a top 4 dman add.

No Matt Savoie, for some reason, which means less speed, no Nurse on defence replaced by Klingberg and Skinner in net.

Prep yourselves for the big time blood bath picking. Barkov must be licking his lips

Well, I'll say this.

If management decides not to go for it because they don't believe what they have this year is good enough, while I heavily disagree that's at least a decision that requires some balls.

I dunno... I see it exactly the opposite. If they DON'T go for it, it's because they lack the aforesaid cajones.

Ummm, how many presidents teams crash and burn in the playoffs?

How many times has the lower seed won the Cup Finals?

We're not gunning for the President's Trophy, what good does finishing second in the division yet again do for us? Or worse, third?

I was more replying to you panicking over the bottom 6

Brown and Janmark still look fast. Henrique isn't doing much offensively but still is good defensively.

No need to panic on these guys based on their regular season, as there isn't a visible decline in the way they play. No need to overhaul the bottom 6

Hence, these guys not equating to wins right now isn't as big a deal as you're making it to be. They have shown they step up when it counts

What exactly are these guys contributing? They're not scoring and the PK is a disaster. Yeah they were heroes in the Cup Finals but up until that point they were complete afterthoughts. If it takes getting to the Cup Finals again for them to wake up, well I hate to break it to you but we probably aren't going to make it that far this year.
