Realistically, how likely is a trade deadline move? It highly depends on the Kane situation. Which players are easily moveable, meaning with no trade protection? Right now the team is 40k above the cap.

After 4 nations, I don't really want Parayko anymore. Not that physical for his size, seems to rely on rushing the puck rather than passing, and while decent defensively, he isnt a Slavin or even close to it.
Honestly he just seems like RH Nurse, with a better shot but less physicality. I think they would be a poor fit together.

They can breathe a little easier if something happens to Kulak and they sill want a good skater.
I know he looked awful next to Nurse, but weirdly he got (far) more 2nd pairing minutes vs. 3rd pairing usage. (Going by NaturalStatTrick) If push comes to shove, perhaps he wouldn't be a total trainwreck next to Emberson in a 3rd pairing role.
Still, I get the feeling they'll want at least one giant available to step in if something happens to Nurse or Ekholm. Think someone like Tinordi or Megna, who are currently in the AHL, but have decent NHL experience.

You can argue about whether Parayko is the right add or if the Oilers could possibly add him, but I dont see how anyone could argue that this wouldnt represent a giant improvement over our current defence.

If he can PK too I’d actually also like it. Big dman, he doesn’t look bad to me. We need a sturdy dman built like Ekholm and he is that.

You know there are few people here I would love to see what trades they would make and how they would make them and what their lineup would look like after the deadline. They seem reticent to do so (no need to be frightened your wrong) but im sure would be nice to see some realistic ideas on how to we should go to battle with this group.
Kulak is another guy that relies more on his skating than crisp outlet passes. He also isnt a top 4 guy. He might be one of the best #5's though, and we should use that rather than play him above his head
And Nurse/Emberson weren't very good together.
Really, to keep a skater and passer on each pair, and keep a defensive conscience, you'd want something like
Nurse-Bouch
Ekholm-Parayko
Kulak-Emberson
But our coaches won't split up Bouch/Ek, even though they are our two best passers from the back end and have been looking like shit together lately. So we need someone who can make a stretch pass with Nurse, and Parayko isnt that guy.
Nurse-Bouch have great stats together in their limited time, and Nurse's skating can help cover Bouchs brainfarts. So if your fine breaking them up, sure. But I don't think Knob is willing to try that, so just get a guy who can pass the puck to play with Nurse. Parayko isnt the only option.

Yeah, we are discussing if he is the right add. Obviously Parayko is better than Klingberg currently. But is he worth the assets to aquire and better than any of the other available options? I don't think so, for this team.

+6 on a team with -11 goal differential, 63.8 d-zone starts an all situations 59.2 d-zone EV starts, +11.5 point share. Top time on ice performance that tilts to shutdown situational deployment yet still producing 32 points (13 goals) all EV or SH except for 1 PP assist.

because it's an ongoing injury that rest will not heal imo. Hips maybe. Tkachuk is groin, so he will be back to 100% with rest.
He hasn't been McDavid for awhile. He used to start/stop and make incredible lateral movements with the puck, now it's straight lines. He's also gone from ridiculously ahead of everyone to possibly the third best player in the league, during his prime years
This is not really true, he has lost the scoring title to Kucherov and Draisaitl before. He lost a Hart to Taylor freaking Hall.
The gap between any one player and other great players in the league is not what it once was.
If you want to see a decline in your 20s go look at Ovechkin, lol. And he's still ticking along here at age 39.

100%. A couple of buddies and I said that we would be done with the team if we don’t bring in some form of goalie at the deadline. No point in watching in that case.

This will be an interesting deadline a lot of good names rumored to be available, but the amount of players that are near locks to be traded is very low. Hopefully a few of the bubble teams fully commit to being sellers in the next week.
Maybe the losing streak will be a good thing if we get a better TDL addition. Or maybe us adding a Drew O Connor depth piece was always a BS media thing because we "didn't know our cap space"
You do make a good point that adding a higher end RHD would take pressure off of Bouchard, but If klingberg isn't in the top 4 plans we shouldn't have given him 1.8
With adding Dermott I believe they will be looking at a top 6 winger and maybe a goalie. A goalie would also help the defence.
He's better than what we have, plus he doesn't need to be the guy here. Size and a long stick in the playoffs is very important.
It's not a realistic trade, but it doesn't mean he's overrated.
You can tell who doesn't watch Parayko. He would be the second best defenseman on this team the moment he put on an Oilers jersey.
