Jason Gregor just moments ago with Derek Van Diest “the oilers are 1st in xGA on the PK and 26th in actual goals against. I don’t know what it is- maybe a lot a lucky goals and bounces”.

Just f***ing say it’s shitty goaltending. The lengths he goes…
Gregor also said Bouchard couldn’t replace Barrie and that Tanev wasn’t an upgrade on Ceci. He’s quickly approaching Spec levels of joke as a media member.

Zito has a huge advantage of being the GM of a team in Miami and a tax free state. Players didn’t want to start coming to Edmonton until this off season after we made the finals. Florida will always have an advantage attracting players even if they’re a bad team. You switch GM’s 5 years ago and the results are probably still the same.
The GM everyone should be going after is Chevy in Winnipeg. It’s the least attractive destination for players yet he keeps building a competitive team and the guys that play there actually sign long term and not go UFA to get out of the city.
It's not like they're winning because of UFAs signing there. Zito traded for half that roster.

The “tax free” advantage was squashed a long time ago by Allan Walsh. Recently, even Stauffer acknowledged that there are tax plans for NHL players being paid in US dollars. There is no tax benefit. Florida also built their winning team through thoughtful trades and waiver wire pick ups. There were no big name free agents. Just smart GM’ing

Or maybe he's not hurt? He's had some great bursts of speed lately. He was also playing like this before the 4 nations...

TBH if he's not with Drai he has been a pile of hot garbage all year. Is it Mcdavid regressing? League having tape on Hyman causing problems? Or is it simply the fact he has NOBODY to play with.

I really don't think he is injured because when he is on the ice with Drai he looks good.
If he was hurt he wouldn't have been in consideration for MVP of the best on best tournament after scoring highlight reel goals.

I don't think he's regressing if he can show those sort of moments.

The fact that he has nobody to play with seems most likely. He looks great with Draisaitl whenever they're together and usually great with Hyman. Take Hyman off his wing and he doesn't have anyone that can score 20 goals a season until Knoblach ever lets Skinner score goals.

31 other GM’s passed on Forsling. No one expected what he would become when he was on waivers.
That's the point. Bill Zito didn't. It shows ability to identify talent where others failed to and he did so consistently with his waiver pickups/reclamation project signings/low draft pick trades. Meanwhile the Oilers somehow managed to pay value in negative value assets like Duncan Keith and Jack Campbell. Some of the Panthers moves like the Tkachuk trade and signing or the Reinhart trade and signing wouldn't be available to the Oilers, but it would be a much better team that it ended up being under Holland.

I'm reading (mainstream media so beware) that Binnington to the Oilers is a real possibility but I don't see how the Oilers can manage this without trading the Skinner contract. I guess retention by the Blues would be the only real option? I don't follow it as much as you guys. Would the Blues really trade him?
Maybe, Honestly, if these turds don't go for a goalie, at least get a top 4 dman.

Majority of you guys won't like this but I really think Parayko is who we should aim at IF we don't go for a goalie

"Should of hired Zito" should be the official slogan of HF Oilers.

We had our chance to hire him before Florida snatched him but we hired The Dutch Grandpa instead.
