The whole JT Miller - Pittsburgh thing, where right before the deadline he was day to day, then week to week, then NHL released a memo about "storing" players on LTIR, then immediately after the TDL he magically heals and plays 20+ the game.

Vancouver definitely denied any serious trade potential, but every single insider commented on it.

jt miller to the islanders.

However he was purposely priced out, wether it was Alvin or his master Francesco forcing him to do so.

An agreement was apparently made but Alvin asked for one extra part, which islanders said no too.

The same has happened this year.

This was more about seeing what was out there for the offseason.

Kevin Hayes to Columbus since the Blue Jackets traded Voracek’s cap hit.

The Flyers would have to retain heavily and Philadelphia would have to attach a high pick or solid prospects if Hayes were going to Columbus before the draft.

Why would the Wings even want JVR? He's a UFA and they're out of a playoff spot.
A week before the deadline they we’re on a 7-1 streak….followed by an 0-5-1 ( 2 sweep by Ottawa).

many times deals are talked about 1-2 weeks before the deadline. Detroit losing streak killed it.

Not with this deal though. Yzerman made the offer in the early afternoon, presumably after he was called by Fletcher on deadline day. What Wings fans heard was they were going to give up a pick or something to get JVR, then try and flip JVR at even further retention for a better pick.

On ESPN is an article about Red Wings and how they nixed the trade with Flyers (van Riemsdyk).

Are there any other news about almost done trades?

This morning's 32 Thoughts has some:

Meier to Edmonton, Hayes to Columbus, and Toronto trying to find a way to make Ekholm work (and failing) were some of what was mentioned.

Fletcher wanted a "good pick" and for JVR to play in the playoffs but every team said no.... so the asking price was too high....
Ah, the master negotiator Fletcher.

Step 1. Ask for high return
Step 2. Other team says, too much. Other team comes back with lower offer.
Step 3. Instead other team doesn't come back with lower offer
Step 4. Other team doesn't come back with lower offer?

Per Dreger, the Pens and Canucks were close on JT Miller, but Vancouver ended up balking on the deal because the Pens were only offering draft picks. Vancouver wanted a forward with term coming back in the deal since they decided they "aren't in a rebuild" and they'd need someone to replace Miller in the lineup.

It's a good thing the Pens didn't trade Pettersson tbh. He looked lackluster last season, but he has been their most consistent defenseman this year.
Interesting, as Montreal is thrilled with Matheson, at this point, and the consensus is Pettersson wouldn't have been as good a fit.

Matheson being a Montreal native does help, he clearly actively wants to be here.
