I see @SunGarrioch has the @EdmontonOilers linked to Andrei Markov. VG D. But in talking to Oilers MGT his name has never been brought up

Word from Nashville is Devan Dubnyk, who's played just twice since the Jan 15 trade, could be AHL bound when Pekka Rinne returns this week

Scouts in OKC tonight from the Canucks, Isles and Habs. #OKCBarons #Oilers #AHL - Aaron Riley

For those keeping score, Oiler scout watching Habs/Leafs, Hab scout watching OKC

Habs scouts were at the previous game, and have been at OKC games several times in the last two weeks. Chicago scouts were also at last night's game.

^ Interesting to note that the Islanders scout is Ken Morrow, director of pro scouting for the team

Just pointing out that this will be the 2nd game in a row that the Islanders are scouting OKC, interesting.

I wouldn't read too much into the scouts attending games three days before the deadline. It's their job to know almost every player in every other organization just incase a deal does come up involving those teams...

'If I was a betting man, I’d say Edmonton Oilers winger Ales Hemsky will be traded to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he has 35 points in 35 career games.

Phoenix is looking more for a left-winger, but Hemsky and fellow Czech Olympic centre Martin Hanzal might be a fit. The Oilers are trying hard to get a second-round pick for Hemsky.'

http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2014/03/02/short-shifts-4/

It also says that Boston is seriously looking at Nick Schultz, Meszaros, Andrew MacDonald and Chris Phillips.

Oilers interested in Andrei Markov?
http://tvasports.ca/hockey/canadiens/les-oilers-interesses-markov-2032014
Andrei Markov to remain in Montreal, the Canadian Defender has great value in the eyes of the Directors General across the NHL, particularly with the approach of the date limit exchanges, Wednesday.

The Edmonton Oilers would be informed about the availability of Markov with Marc Bergevin, according to what reported the Ottawa Sun, Saturday.

FILE: Transactions 2014

The Oilers, second worst team in the NHL in the standings, are listed among the sellers by March 5, but a target as Markov may be logical in their case history to stabilize a defensive brigade routed (204 goals in 62 games).

However, the objective of Markov is really to stay in Montreal, the team with which he played since the beginning of his career.

The clan of Russian Defender is still negotiating with the Director general of the CH and, for the moment, there is no agreement.

Markov wants a new three-year Pact, while the senior management of the HABs would prefer a shorter contract, two seasons for example.

In 2013-2014, the veteran passes the final year of a three year $ 17.25 million agreement $.

The back of 35 years scored five goals and 26 assists for a total of 31 points in 62 games since the start of the season.

@TSNBobMcKenzie
Callahan demands to NYR have decreased from 7 x $7M+ he was asking. Now open to 6 years at less than $7M per, maybe in $6.5-6.75M range?

@TSNBobMcKenzie
In any case, Callahan still looking for more than what NYR offered -- 6 years at $6M per. So gap has shrunk some but still exists.

@SportsnetSpec
New York Rangers talking internally re: Ales Hemsky. Like most teams, scouts are split. 3rd'er sounds right, tho EDM will ask for a 2nd.

@NicholsOnHockey: .@RobRossi_Trib says #Pens have already made a couple of offers to #Canucks for Ryan Kesler. Not saying a deal is close. #NHLTradeDeadline

From TFP:

The Ducks have been linked to New York Islanders defenseman Andrew MacDonald, Edmonton Oilers right wing Ales Hemsky, and Buffalo Sabres left wing Matt Moulson and blueliner Christian Ehrhoff, among others.

Red Wings among teams with interest in Christian Ehrhoff, however, Det likes its youth and may do nothing if prices don't drop.

Not an Oiler rumor, but the fact the prices are very high means the sellers are trying to go big. Glad to see that MacT.

@SWhyno: The 10 players most likely to get dealt before Wednesday's NHL trade deadline: http://t.co/Lw2BYMl3Is

Ales Hemsky

It may finally be time for the last Oilers player who was on the 2006 Stanley Cup final team to go. GM Craig MacTavish made it abundantly clear last summer he was trying to trade Hemsky, but his US$5.5-million salary and $5 million cap might not seem so bad as a late-season rental.

As @Russostrib said, not likely Wild take Bryzgalov but clear he's done in EDM. Wonder who other Oilers goalie will be next year?

#Oilers defenceman Anton Belov has a partially torn oblique muscle, isn't expected back for at least two weeks, Coach Eakins says.

There goes Belov as a trade option.

Expectation Oilers will look to move members off the bottom half of their roster. Candidates most likely include Potter and Jones. - Aaron Ward
