Series Talk: Round 1 - Battle of FLA Part 4 - Panthers Lead 2-0

En heich el dot com does predict that the winner of Tampons-Panthers will end up in the SCF. The series vote is 9-7 favoring Panthers.

One of the 16 also had Barkov getting the Conn Smythe. I agree with that dude.
Yeah the east is bad. I expect the West to win easily this year. Unfortunately if Tampa beats Florida imo Toronto has a real chance of making the finals, Tampa sucks vs the Leafs.

Every single team plays before our series begins, 3 days after the playoffs begin.

I am not sure if this is a blessing or a curse. Rest up or rust up? What is your take?

"Since the start of the 2022-23 season, including playoffs, Forsling has logged 6,615 minutes on the ice — about 400 more than anyone else in the NHL over that span. He's appeared in 286 games over those three years; the only player who has been in more is Panthers teammate Sam Reinhart, who has played in 288. Reinhart missed three of Florida's final six games. Those were the first games he missed in three years."

Such a workhorse #1 D, what a steal.

And not just quantity, but quality as well. His +108 in the regular season +/- since 22-23 is also best in the league.

I recall a few weeks back, Maurice was asked about Chucky's status for the playoffs and his reply was something to the effect of (paraphrasing) "it depends on the start date of our first round".

At the time the comment was perplexing but maybe the organization was aware of the staggered first round schedule and Maurice's "coyness" and the team's final positioning in the Atlantic was in fact, a shrewd, calculated plan.

Panthers possibly playing possum? Perhaps?

Absolutely - f***ing sleeping giants, we are...

Just saw the Athletic writers' picks for the first round. 23.5% of them picked the Sens and the Habs in their respective series. And only 17.6% of them picked the panthers. NOW I'm pissed off. Screw my carefully reasoned "Tampa in 6" - I'm taking Cats in 4 now.

We do better as underdogs/villains anyway...

If this is close to what the forward lines will look like, I’d personally swap Swaggy and Samo. Verhaeghe has played better with Bennett and Tkachuk in the past and Mackie can hold his own and be protected by Barkov

I agree - and Mackie has been really good on that top line. I also think that Swaggy, Bennett and Tkachuk have had plenty of practice playing together so that would help initial chemistry after a long time off.

nope, its a defensive disaster when swaggy is on the 2nd line, hes better with barky

There was a small one period sample of the Samo/Benny/Chucky line and they looked really good. Then Samo got injured early in the 2nd and didn’t come back then Chucky broke at 4 Nations. But yeah I wanna see what they can do.
