Habs have no goalscoring game breaking ability. In a 7 games series, this should be the difference. I suspect it will happen with Matthews this evening.

I get what you're doing though, I'm the same. If Leafs lose, you get to say you were right and if they win, you're just happy they won. Plus perhaps you're a little bit supersticious as well? Underselling the Leafs as a kind of reverse jinx thingy? Anyway, to me and to pretty much any neutral fan (which I'm not, of course), the Leafs are huge favorites even in a game 7. I suspect Matthews and Hyman get 2 each.

The leafs 'game breakers' haven't shown up this series. In fact, they don't show up in the playoffs. So I'd say both teams are even in that category. Pretend as if both teams don't have any game breakers.

Matthews might stick around for another season or two after tonight, but tonight is essentially the end of the Matthews era in Toronto.

This team has nowhere to go with the current group.

Habs in a weird spot. They're pretty much making everything the fans complained about pre-playoffs look like crap; proving coaching/ management to be geniuses.

I joked early on; but they'll be continuing with the same approach no matter the outcome tonight

This is a battle between new school hockey (analytics, skill on every line) and old school hockey (defensive grinding, insanely good goaltender)

I’ve emotionally dissociated myself from the game. Expecting a loss just to not get my hopes up.

just get it done Toronto!

As a Habs fan, sure, the Leafs fans worries and desire to fire and trade everybody is delicious.

But I'll say this : I believe this is probably the best edition of this team we've seen in 15-20 years. They are a powerhouse and I think it would be a major mistake to trade any of their star players or to fire Dubas.

If they don't win tonight, it's because of a combination of factors that all materialized at the same time :

- Tavares and Muzzin getting injured
- Price being red hot
- The weight of history, the pressure of trying to overcome the Leafs recent playoffs trouble
- The 2500 fans giving the Habs a boost in game 6
- Montreal being very underrated due to their crazy regular season schedule

Sure. the Leafs might be lacking depth at some position. Sure, they give too much icetime to a Joe Thornton who's completely done (why not having him behind the bench, like the Habs did with Denis Savard in 1993?). Both those are minor tweaks that can be corrected in the offseason.

If the Leafs happened to face another team. If 1 or 2 circumstances happened to be different, if Tavares didn't get injured in game 1, I believe the Leafs would win round 1 quite easily.

But Dubas did a great job in my opinion. He built a contender. Don't let tonight's result blind you, if it doesn't turn out the way you wish.
