The vast majority on the board, myself included, think Lou deserves to be fired. So why hasn’t that happened. I’ve never met Malkin but I’ve been lucky in my career to meet quite a few people of similar wealth. None have been stupid people. So I’m going under the premise Malkin isn’t stupid. So perhaps Malkin thinks Lou is doing a good job. How could that be? Well for one the value of the franchise has increased. Second, the team has made the playoffs more years than not likely meaning no operating losses. Third, Malkin likely thinks Lou is a good CEO who he trusts. So I’m not expecting Lou to be fired anytime soon. I doubt a few dozen unhappy posters on a message board get Malkin’s attention. Nor do I think a letter does anything. Now if fans stopped buying tickets, merch, etc that will impact the finances and get Malkin’s attention. So will a couple more years of being out of the playoffs. But in the end I expect Lou stays around until Malkin sells a controlling interest.
Bingo.

I disagree with this part. Pageau was extended here to be a 3C who could score 20 goals. I think Lou’s plan was always to have a team that spread the scoring across all 4 lines. Lou knew he didn’t have elite talent and couldn’t sign a sniper as a UFA, so he tried to build a team of scrappers where he might have 10 guys on the roster who could score 20+ goals.
My only point is that naming someone a 1C and using them in that capacity doesn't make them so in the sense of what is expected from that position from the highly competitive teams around the league. It's been rehashed a thousand times here and proven over time; you must have a elite players.

Speaking of insanity, depending on how things shake out, next Friday could approach the hire-the-backup-goalie-to-be-GM day around here.

Unless of course, you inherit that wealth, see - Woody Johnson, Stephen Jones, etc.

And probably a bit harsh to call them stupid, but not as intelligent and diligent as their parents who earned that wealth.

Are we still debating the definition of insanity?
Now that I think about it, we're not so much defining it as participating in it. I mean, lets face it, that's what this site and most of the internet chat space is. A bunch of people with no actual say in the matter arguing ad nauseam about the same things and repeating themselves over and over with zero hope of affecting the outcomes that they care about. That behavior defines the truism but they do it anyway and will keep doing it. I am part of that. But, as I said earlier, if Brock is still here next week I won't be doing it here anymore.

I’d take Wahlstrom in Bridgeport just so I can comp guys like Dufour, Jefferies and Maggio to him.

Also Julien Gauthier hasn’t played down there since November. Did he quit?

We'd need to add, but I like the way you think. Actually, that's probably the way Lou would think too. :eek2:
The Leafs might need to rehire Dubas in order for a trade like that to happen.

In the real world that would require a big add by the Isles assuming Marner is signed to a long term deal.

That's where you draw the line in the sand? Interesting.

To me, it's just entertainment. A guy wrote a letter to the Islanders ownership. Now, that's just funny.

One for two on drafting kids on highlight reels, one was just a vcr tape, the other YouTube.

If Boston is waiving you, then it’s over kid.

I’ll go out on a limb and say Lou does some major work on or before the deadline on this roster.

Copp out for the season - Detroit has $ and a 1st.

Detroit is currently in a playoff spot, so close to breaking the drought.

Been my tip as the likely destination for several weeks now.

Still think Yzerman would be the guy to win a bidding war now that the PO spot is well within striking distance.
