Wouldn’t trade Eiserman for him. But I would trade Dobson for a forward and trade something else for Jiricek. These are the type of moves needed to redo the core.
I agree with this logic, but one thing to keep in mind is that there is speculation that Jiricek has no interest in playing in the minors but isn't currently good enough for the NHL. If there's entitlement on Jiricek's part, that project is stained from the start.

With all the "trade Dobson" talk, note that as recently as last season there were posters on the OTT board who wanted to shoot Chabot into the sun but figured his contract made him difficult to move. And now,

I’d rather get Dobson on a bridge deal vs trading him. His confidence and defense are questionable- this is a good time to bridge him since he ain’t earning a big long term deal.

If people want to be ‘younger’ he still fits the mold and one can deal with his growing pains. It’s the payday that’s at issue.

Agreed but George isn’t a fully baked prospect either. The Isles aren’t winning the cup this year and D take longer to develop. So I would be willing to give some young D NHL time this year.

I don’t disagree. I mentioned trading him as an example of changing the core.

I hear ya. The Isles seem like they are best suited for a multi-trade scenario to change up the core - a little bit like how FL did it. I would say the keepers are Sorokin, Dobson, Romanov, and Horvat.

I've been very down on him this year. But even though Dobson has been horrible this year. You can't trade him just yet. At the end of this year, we should have Parms, Nelson, Reilly and Wally off the books which is 12.5M, add in Martin and Fasching $775K, that's a total of 14M. We can start bring in some younger, faster players along with giving guys like George and maybe Maggio or Jefferies a good look next year. Who knows and a big surprise could be Eiserman

Are you f***ing kidding me....Pittsburgh gets Philip Tomasino for a Freaking 4th rounder? This is why Lou needs to be punched, and dropped kicked out the door immediately. He and Trotz have a relationship and we can't get a deal like this for a young kid with talent who hasn't really gotten a fair chance...what a joke mgmt is...

Why do the isles need another underperforming center?

are you serious? You are telling me this isn't worth the isles giving up a 4th for a young talent like him? So, let's stick with our old core and none of our forward propsect are even close to making the club in the next year or 2....wow.

Dude has 71 points in 159 career games. Doesn’t scream ‘wow’ to me. I guess that’s good for you.

again a 4th rounder you are complaining about. Your right, let's just stick with Wally, Engvall, Casey, Martin, etc.

Remember Nelson is 33, Parms and Lee are 34. Let's just re-sign them to 6 year deals next. Or maybe get this kid in and see what he can do. We have no speed or youth on our Top 9 forwards. This kid was a top 1st rounder. Here's a guy that Nashville played him and avg 12 minutes a game when they dressed him.

I don't see a down side to making a deal like this.

Well, Nash’s 2018 first rounder hasn’t been so hot despite multiple chances.

This is more Dubas just being Dubas - ‘ look, I brought in a youngish ‘undervalued’ guy here.’ Odds are with Dubas…he loses this deal too.

Jesus...

I want Lou gone as much as anyone, but you do realize that 29 other GMs weren't willing to pay more than a 4th for Tomasino - Right? Should all of them be "punched, and dropped kicked out the door immediately?"

How do you know that 29 other teams reached out to Nashville. That's what I'm saying. Lou is not doing his job calling other teams and trying to figure out different ways on bring in young talent.

Sounds like a bit of a Ryan Strome situation. Jerked around a bit, playing on the wings instead of his natural position. Not sure how the Pens intend to use him but for a team like them it's probably worth a gamble. I guess we'll see what he turns into.

FWIW this isn't that bad for a 23 year old. As a comparison, Brock Nelson had 68 points in his first 154 games.

Trotz is probably doing the reaching out here and it's a good bet that he called Lou.

if Trotz did call Lou, shame on him for not taking a chance on him for a 2027 4th rounder.

You're making an assumption that it would only cost a 4th rounder from us. The problem: the Pens might not have Crosby or Malkin by that point. Very good chance it ends up being higher than ours, so the ask is probably a 3rd from us. Make of that what you will.

I wouldn’t be hand clapping a Dubas trade. He’s a man with no plan, Henry got dupped, and he’s just waiting for ownership to axe Sullivan. The longer Sullivan stays the more time Dubas gets to keep up his show.

Yeah...I wouldn't move a ton for Jiricek currently. He's very much stuck in the "too good for the AHL, not good enough for the NHL" grey area, and is disgruntled. I'd take him...but not at the price Columbus would want for the draft pick pedigree.

if that's the case it would cost us more to get him. That shows even more reasons why Lou must go. He has not pull anymore with GMs. to be, he is not respected by the GMs now. They know they can take advantage of him
