If Rozy is willing to accept the LTIR assignment, there's no reason you don't do it.

He gets paid and gets to heal up...Hawks hopefully get a healthier player when it matters. He wasn't going to play more than 50 games anyway, if he only plays 30 what's the difference?

My guess is capgeek is wrong about 60K bonus overage from the last season.

Quenneville said Versteeg suffered a lower-body injury and said it didn’t look good after practice. They’ll know more tomorrow.

TT?

Someone in the front office forget to bring up the overage from last season?

No clue, but if anybody knows the ins and outs of the cap system it'd Be the Hawks management. If there are any work arounds where they can hide/delay/whatever a few grand, I'm sure they know about it.

Who would you rather see Rundblad? the guy is terrible. The kid has a lot of tools, awareness and hockey IQ just aren't one of them.

Curious if Mashinter on IR won't count against the cap because it was a pre-season injury and they can't send him down, and if he bonus overage isn't taken into account at this time.

Does anyone know how bonuses are handled when the player who earns them is on LTIR? I know normally any earned bonuses that put a team over the cap for the season are applied to the next season (like capgeek is showing with the Hawks having 60k in overages). But is it handled differently if the player in question ended the season on LTIR? Or could it be that while the Hawks were over the cap at the end of the year they were able to apply some portion of the bonus to the LTIR space they had left?

I don't really care. They aren't going to win the Cup in October. A healthy Rozsival in April is more important than winning games now.

For all the people happy about Steeg being out (and he has looked good in preseason) you know that means Carcillo is in. Should I assume that you guys like Carcillo more then Steeg? I do not.

1) Your Mashinter ruling
"Active Roster" shall be determined as follows: Commencing on the day prior to
the start of the Regular Season, and concluding with each respective Club's last NHL Game in a
League Year, Active Roster shall include all Players on a Club's Reserve List who are signed to
an approved and registered SPC, subject to the provisions of Article 11, and who are not on the
Injured Reserve List, Injured Non-Roster, designated Non-Roster, or Loaned. A Player who is on
a Conditioning Loan is included on a Club's Active Roster. During Training Camp, a Player shall
be deemed to be on the Club's Active Roster only if he had been on the Club's Active Roster
after the Trade Deadline in the preceding season on other than an emergency recall basis.

2) On the business boards I posted a theory in the CBA thread and now made it's own thread.
Being that the cap penalty of $60k will not be applied until the end of the season. If true then the Hawks are under by $12k.

If #2 is the case I would assume the Hawks have already consulted with league to check that language is as how they interpreted it?

I assume teams are allowed to consult with league any potential CBA issues
