All I know pis if this team couldn't win this year, they're not winning next year. Center is dangerously thin right now. DeAngelo, sadly, is best traded at draft.

depends on the return...the idea that we'd be better if we trade deangelo as a blanket statement is simply not true, but there are definitely potential returns that it would make sense

They should do the draft April 4-5 (the teams calling in to someone doing the graphic of course). We need something to put our minds to. :)

thinking July. Kinda surprised the NFL is still conducting their draft with this virus. You have no idea what these kids have been doing. Heaven for bid any of them get coronavirus which results is severe lung trauma.

I’d push every draft date back. (but understand the need for entertainment and could use an April 4-5 draft too).

LOL at those that figure Tony has peaked . As the kids get better so will the offensive numbers of Tony...he will hit 80 pts within 3 years easily barring injury . Sign the kid for as little dollars and as long as we can .....he will be a part of the club for at least 2 Cups ... get it done Gorts. We have him...lets enjoy him and reward him .
Easily is perhaps stretching it a bit far. EK65 has one season in his career when he scored as well as Tony 5v5 and has never scored at Tony's rate on the power play. I think he has the potential to get there, in fact I think the only defenceman in the league with as much raw offensive ability as Tony is Makar, but things still need to break in his favor to get to PPG and he needs more ice time to get there. Being stapled to the PP1 for the whole season will help though, he was only on the PP1 for 66% of the time this season.

Having a bottom-6 that isn't the worst in the league will help a lot though.

I can’t wait for the DeAngelo trade speculation to be over. Will be as soon as he’s signed it very easily may be some of the dumbest speculation I’ve seen on these boards. On what planet do you ever trade away a 24 year old righty Dman that is one of 3 in the entire league with 15 goals and 50 plus pts. Only Carlson and Josi are in that class. Absolutely idiotic.
See you in three years then.

Agreed, and not necessarily him, but all things considered yeah. Bringing back the same team wouldn't work, IMO, unless Strome keeps up; Chytil, Kakko, Lemieux hit stride; Hajek or Rykov have Calder seasons (or Staal time travels to 2010).

DeAngelo's the finishing touch for a really good, secure team.

60 points is still 60 points

Thats true. Not trying to knock Tony. Just as I said. Keep things in perspective. Some people talk like he already is a 1st pairing defense man. Right know he is Keith Yandle, but with upside.

Just my opinion:

I think that EK is a threat from some distance that TDA isn’t and that he has plenty of top end abilities that TDA doesn’t.

But TDA has one fantastic ability and that is how fast he moves the puck. Push the pace. I don’t think he would have the ability to carry a team like EK could, but who knows...

They are showing the Rangers/Isles game from Feb where Zibby won it in OT

the last 5 minutes of regulation were so painful, espcially the last 2

you'd pay money for a clear. ya would

That Islander game along with that wild and crazy Caps game that we won 6-5 when Zibs also got the GW along with 4 other goals besides that, were probably the most exciting games of the year which were chockfull of them as Rangers and probably the Avs were the most exciting teams to watch in the league IMO.

Either Panarin and Zibanejad shared the scoresheet with Tony 35 times this season...66% of the goals he was involved in. Karlsson never had forwards of that caliber to feed.

This is not a comparison. DeAngelo is a great player but prime Karlsson on this year’s Rangers team would’ve pushed around a 100 point pace.

I think the only defenceman in the league with as much raw offensive ability as Tony is Makar.

You seriously think the 19/20 year old kids Dahlin and Hughes don’t have more raw offensive ability than DeAngelo? What is the argument there?

this is the case for almost all good offensive defenseman. They generally do not score when not on the ice with the top forwards.
