Colton OrrI’d put money on Langdon or Kocur against anyone, at any point in their careers. They were smart, tough and would outlast their opponents.

Yeah he isn’t that much better.Slightly better offense? Lol.
Blessing in disguise. Haha.Yeah he isn’t that much better.

Not a Kravtsov fanboy, but he did everything but score in those 20 games. He gifted some opportunities that weren’t buried. He created turnovers with his back checking and hustle. He showed me more in those 20 games than Chytil has in 227 games, Andersson in 66 games, and Lafreniere in 104 games.
Having said that, the kid can go f*** himself.
I doubt Arizona retains 3M for 6 more years. if they were going to retain on a contract might as well do it for Chychrun and get a huge return.
That might be the worst take on Kocur I have ever heard. That washed up Tomato can was the best fighter this club ever employed. It was a different era in hockey back then. Enforcers mattered. Every team had multiple guys to do the job. Not to mention, prior to 91, the Rangers were literally called the Smurfs. Ill never forget the playoffs when the Rangers knocked the Isles out. I believe it was James Patrick who laid a big hit on LaFontaine. A the end of the game the Isles threw out their goon squad. Baumgartner, Vukota and Nylund. Rangers didn't have an answer for it. They had Nilan, Chris King and Bloemberg. They beat the snot out of the Rangers left on the ice. Rangers checked out the next series. In the meeting the very next season Kocur went right after Baumgartner opening faceoff. The place erupted. In another heavyweight tilt, #26 hit Jay Caufiled so hard it cracked his helmet down the middle. Kocur while in NY took on pretty much anyone that was willing to have a go with him. Paul Laus, Stu Grimson, Donald Brashear, Rob Ray, Craig Berube, Dan Kordic, Lyle Odelien and Bob Probert. Kocur had very few losses, and a lot of players ducked him his whole career.
Rangers had a massive culture change in the early 90's. They added Graves, Beukeboom, Kocur and of course Messier arrived shortly after. They bulked up. The never let anyone push them around. The end result was the first Stanley Cup in 54 years.
I would agree, but I just wonder how motivated he could be to come here and to play with some of our other Fs. No matter what, any FA is going to have to be a team-friendly contract at this point (thanks to Drury and Goodrow).Giving Hertl a UFA deal given his extensive knee injury track record seems like a disaster in the making
To NYR: Karlsson @ 50%
To VGK: Kravtsov
To ARZ: Chytil
Arizona needs to get to the floor somehow. Don't know what VGK would want. It's a cap dump but he's still a good player.
I'm not talking about the Rangers, I'm saying that's what Arizona should do.THe issue with that is we do not need Chychrun.
Our team needs a real center. No point in wasting the assets to add Chychrun
Definitely the two worst trades in Ranger’s history.Ridley and Miller for Carpenter was THE worst trade ever. Then Esposito trades Carpenter and Laidlaw for 40 year Marcel Dionne two months later. From bad to worse.
I have two words for you: RICK MIDDLETON.
THe issue with that is we do not need Chychrun.

This is a false choice.Kravtsov couldn't outplay Gauthier and Sammy Blias enough in preseason to win a spot
If we could square a Hertl signing with our cap considerations, this would be a good way to address the 2C issue.

No. I just know a consistent 30+ goal, PPG player is more than slightly better than a 15-20 goal 60-70 point player offensively.
I don’t disagree with your assertion about defensive shortcomings with Scheifele, but you’re way off on comparing him and Strome offensively. It’s not even close.
Florida was in the market for a top line RW because they traded for Reinhart in an equally underwhelming return. At no point was Lundell realistic or on the table in a Buch trade. Revisionist history to include that in the trades you were "right" about.
I agree we are t winning anyway, but then, again, why a rental. And if your backup has to play a few games over the course of a 6 week playoff run, it shouldn’t be a death sentence. IF you are trying to win it.
How is Strome barely a center when he's no worse than Scheifele is at the defensive part of the game and they play the same position. In fact most metrics would suggest he's quite a bit better. Wouldnt that make Scheifele not a center as well? Scheifele has been one the worst defensive forwards in the league for years now.Actually my perspective is that not only is Scheifele safely a bit better offensively than Strome, but that if the two swapped places Scheifele’s production stays the same or increases while Strome’s drops at least 10 points. By the same token, I think people harp on Scheifele’s defensive lapses - as they relate to a CENTER - and have a valid point, but Strome barely even IS a center and has defensive lapses for a hockey player of any position, period. Comparing the two of them directly, Scheifele’s defense is a huge upgrade on Strome’s IMO. Comparing Scheifele to other top centers, he isn’t on par with top line two way centers around the league.
I think using KAM as a trade chip now is a great idea. I've been impressed with his offense recently, but am not so sure about his defense yet. Hopefully other teams have taken notice of him recently and will value him highly.
I know there are rumors out there that Scheifele is available...would love to see us get him. Would have no problem moving KAM, Lundqvist, and Kravstov in some sort of deal involving him.
