The clock to win started the minute Kreider signed his new deal. And also probably means Strome is sticking around which sucks lol
I still do not understand the amount of hate that Strome gets. How does it suck to have a player who seamlessly fits in with your best player, knows his role, fits into the locker room and allows the coaching staff to deploy their effectively two top lines?

and he is one of the few skilled players that sticks up for his teammates. brings some grit and physical at times as well

Strome is going to get overpaid on his next contract, whether by us or another team. 5.5 x 2? I'm ok with that. 7 for any term? No. 5.5 for more than two? No.

For the record I do not hate him.

We traded Spooner for Strome - anyone that "hates" Strome isn't taking into account how little it cost to get him, what he's produced since he's been here, and what he's worth now. Among Gorton's best moves since his tenure began as a GM.

Because he's a one note player that isn't going to be worth whatever deal he gets

It's not hard to comprehend

There was a report a few weeks ago somewhere that the Panthers were listening to offers on him.

I forget where it was.

Reports like that are the same thing as reporting that the GM is doing his job. If someone calls you about any player and you immediately hang up you shouldn't be a GM in the first place.

True, but this shit usually doesnt become public unless someone wants it out there.

Rangers dont need no defensive guys like that are soft or injury prone no thanks to Galy or Haula or Granlund. i rather have someone like Barron if signs to win a spot or try to sign a player from overseas that is in their prime or on the young side like when they signed Georgiev as an UDFA maybe a kid like Richards wins the 4th line spot who knows. .

Soft?

I saw it on Spector's, but personally do not believe it unless they just know they won't be able to re-sign him.

They can definitely afford to sign him. They have 9M+ coming off the cap this year in Hoffman/Dadonov and cleared at least 2M from the Trocheck trade depending on what they do with Haula. 5.5M for Stralman will also be off the books when Barkov needs a new deal. They don't have any other players on the roster who will command significant money soon.

It may not be a matter of money though.

Now I agree that there are other options which are more realistic, but what the f*** else is there to talk about right now?

This hypo is purely speculative on my part, but what if he's decided he wants to leave Florida or has decided he wants to play for another specific team (a la Panarin).

*whispers* he means European

no I mean soft. Galchenuk is not a European.

Ovechkin is European and not soft

not all Europeans are soft

Radek Faksa not soft

Gudas also European dirty def not soft
Peter Forsberg was also not soft
Malkin also European dirty at times and not soft
Darius Kasparaitis also not soft

It was definitely Barkov.

Huberdeau came up around the deadline.
Yeahhh I gotta see a source or something. I can verify this with my source next time I talk to him too but if Barkov’s name was out there I would 100% know about this. You sure it wasn’t speculation by a writer like “Trade options if Barkov wants out?” Because they were planning a big move for a while and were closer to landing Hall than people think. From what I heard, if they landed Hall and signed him, Huberdeau would be out for a C/D. Ended up not getting him and traded Trocheck, why kill their C depth and their only shot at a legit 1C in Trocheck if Barkov wanted out? I don’t think their done with trades at all, but Im Pretty sure u got it mixed up bud
