I was just over at the WILD Boards and there was a thread called;

Compliance Buyout; Mats Zuccarello or Zack Parise

So far, this is the votes;

Which player?

  1. Mats Zuccarello 43 vote(s)82.7%
  2. *
    Zach Parise 9 vote(s)17.3%

    # 36 hasn't been turning heads the right way so far there..

Considering how bad that Parise contract is, that's telling. Wow

Rangers/Flyers '97 ECF on MSG now.

Excuse me, but Garth Snow was allowed to use shoulder pads that could house two small children?? I was 9 so must not remember, but wow. I get that he's tall, but still ridiculously blatant lol

Yeah, Sather complained about it a lot in the early 2000s and Snow called him a whiner or something.

Hanks an NYR icon, but he replaced a established goalie back in 2006 by just being better than him. That was Kevin Weekes. Now it's Shesty thats taken over. Nothing wrong with giving your best goalie the lion share of the starts.

As much as I love Hank, I will say this- He has been one of the worst goalies on the PK for almost three years now. The bulk of his statistical decline has to do with the fact that he went from being one of the best goalies while shorthanded to one of the worst.

Can he still play well? Yeah sure, especially 5v5. But it's while the teams shorthanded is where he struggles now. As the league has almost universally adapted the 1-3-1 power play, it's gotten more challenging for Hank. He doesn't do well in those situations. Last year in particular when you had a Ranger team take some dumb penalties early in the game, it was game over from the 1st period.

Add in the fact that you had a guy like B Smith who took a lot of those bad penalties early in the game, it was over early.

Zuccarello criticizes the front office, not the club. For instance, he mentions that one of the major reasons sticking in the west is to avoid meeting rangers more than necessary. “Too emotional”..

and; one of the major reasons Zuccarello was so beloved was the willingness to stick up for his teammates and friends, even though it was David against Goliath. Surprised to see so many against him now just because Zucc being Zucc

Why are we bringing in someone when we have a young 60-70 point center who plays well with Panarin already here on a team with center depth issues. Mind boggling.
Simply because he might be pricing himself out of the Rangers range and, simultaneously, has - again, potentially - excellent trade value.
I think most of us fans like him, but circumstances *may* dictate a trade being the wise move.

Well said. And were this team to become a real contender, I'd be thrilled with Zucc coming back in a couple years for swan song.

From what I remember: Lundqvist was never the 3rd goalie sitting in the press box. Always either the starter or the backup, and that that was out of respect for what he means to the organization. I honestly don't remember which match ups they got, but I do remember Lundqvist playing against Detroit, Dallas, New Jersey and Winnipeg. Not really tough match ups. I never had the feeling Lundqvist was mistreated or disrespected this season. And I have a hard time advocating he was better than Georgiev. I'm not saying Georgiev was playing some stellar goaltending, but Lundqvist didn't really play well enough to prove Quinn wrong.
Truth. The "Poor Henrik" narrative has got to go. Zuccarello now implying Henrik was underpaid Is the cherry on top. It's just astonishing.
I can't think of a star who has ever received more of the white knight treatment. Jeter, maybe?

Zucc is a professional athlete who knows right from wrong when it comes down to building a team with a hard cap. This is ultimately a business and sacrifices are part of the process.

Sather mortgaged the future for years to try and ice a competitive team around Lundqvist - while making him the highest paid goalie in the league.

$97,283,390. A player who’s been paid close to 100M doesn’t need anyone to stick up for them. Zucc should shut his mouth and worry about how he can help the Wild win.
