I 2nd this opinion.

The Rangers are trending in the right direction. They arent going to sit him. Maybe the SJ game. Maybe that one. But since it sounds like they are still negotiating a contract AND competing, Kreider will play

I think the fact that both sides are still talking is encouraging. I never got the feeling Gorton was this involved with Zucc or Hayes' agent last year. Carolina is one of the teams they're chasing. This team is trying to make the playoffs, regardless of what some here want. San Jose might be another story. But I would imagine they'd know if he's willing to sign the extension or not by then.

Dobson>>>>>>Wahlstrom not even close but we need more forwards (prospects or ready to go guys like Lemmy/Gauthier)

I'd rather ask for Bellows over Wahlstrom. at least Bellows can be a 3rd liner if his scoring does not come at the NHL level and brings a hard nosed game. good along the boards. Wahlstrom has issues, Rangers dont have the depth to take on those issues.

Absolutely. It’s not about posturing or trying to gain leverage from other teams, there is clearly mutual interest to resign. Does it Happen? I have no idea. Look I admit I want to resign him if the price is right. I also am not confident we getting anything close to what we are asking for

Lol Kreider is not sitting tomorrow.

They're 6 points out of a spot playing a game against the team that has the last WC spot. If they're getting hammered in the middle of the 2nd? Yeah maybe they let him sit on the bench but there is virtually no way that he's getting bubble wrapped in this situation unless someone steps up with an offer that they have to accept.

I think Kreider is a better "role model" and mentor for the team than guys like Zucc or Hayes. Zucc was loved but seemed like in a kinda goofy team clown kinda way. Hayes was also probably a good guy but didn't strike me as the mentor type.

Kreider is a smart guy who works insanely hard in the offseason to prepare himself and has taken teammates and rookies under his wing to help them with that and really taken on a more leadership role with the team in the past few years. I think that is also a big part of why the rangers are hemming and hawing about keeping him.

Exactly. Look I understand the “pro trade” crowd is getting nervous but the Rangers still want to win and the playoffs is still possible. Him playing tomorrow doesn’t mean they can’t trade him

I think this has been the perfect shit storm. Their recent play, his play, Shesterkin on fire, the fact that KZB line is just toying with the NHL right now, the fact that they're a few points out of the playoffs. It's insanity.

I really don’t like what Wahlstrom contributes with in light of the pieces we have in place.

Like this is if anything illustrated by how Zibanejad’s line have performed against Boston. His CF% is just 31% against them and when watching the games the reason for it is obvious. Those low gravity shorter forwards of Boston just hunts down the puck faster and put more pressure on it all over the ice.

I have no problem getting 2-3 forwards with more size, and especially someone like Gauthier who got a boat load of it. But I definitely think our biggest weakness on the roster hands down is a shortage of forwards who are top notch at staying close to the puck and pushing the play all over the ice. And we are starting to build up a group of soooo many forwards who are 6’2 or 6’3.

Boston has TWO forwards bigger than 6’1 (Kurley and Coyle). Tampa have ONE forward bigger than 6’1 (Maroon).

Ziba, Kreider, Buch, Chytil, Gauthier, Howden, Kakko and Kravy gives us EIGHT guys 6’2 or taller. And FIVE guys 6’3 or bigger.

And of course how tall a player is doesn’t give you the full picture. But we must focus a lot on making sure that we don’t become immobile. It’s not about straight ahead speed, it’s about being able to start stop fast, keep speed under your skate when zig zagging after the puck and so forth.

Carp thinks 50/50 Kreider stays (also thinks we won't make playoffs). Also thinks most likely three goalie rotation stays rest of season since Rangers not trading low on Georgiev.

so his insider info is that the rangers might trade kreider or they might not

You don't know who McMichael is and it shows. Passing this over as a prospect and a likely late maybe, lol.
.

Oh, it's nice to get a condescending response for a prospect who moves up and down one of the lowest ranked systems in all of hockey. Add in a maybe and you certainly maintain your position.

I'll stick with being wary of a division rival and one piece rather than multiple pieces and perhaps outside the division or conference

Thanks

I think the nerves are more about a possible injury.

If they were 20 points out and he was playing? People would have a right to be pissed. The risk reward ratio there just isn't worth it.

6 with a chance to make it 4? They've been rolling to get it this close, sitting him now sends the wrong message.

If they lose, they better sit him on Saturday. Playoffs are still a pipe dream IMO but the team has earned the right to try to play themselves into striking distance. They're not being driven by some fools gold combination of puck luck and hot goal tending, they've legitimately been playing good hockey.

Yup. Apparently he didn’t give the right opinion I guess lol

but he didn't even given an opinion...there are 2 possible outcomes and his 'opinion' was that 1 of the 2 possible outcomes will happen.

thats like giving an opinion on the rangers future goalie situation by saying 'the rangers will probably have a goalie in the future'

he is the insider. he gets paid to do this.

Let me ask you a question, how many people do you really believe know what's going on in Gorton's head? These guys are super tight lipped. The only thing these reporters are going to give is either their opinion, or fake information the team wants them to leak. You think he's just gonna come out and say, "Yeah, Gorton's finalizing the trade. Just got off the phone with him?"

Did you even listen to the interview? He said the odds of him staying have gone up in recent weeks and he gave his reasons why. What else you want him to say?
