I too liked Tomasino (well still do) yet I think that ship sailed when the Rangers decided to both trade back the Jets pick for Trouba, and also not sell Kreider for a pick that maybe would have netted them a draft slot to pick him.

Last I read about him, as I remember, it indicated he was playing center.
It’s possible, but Nashville really doesn’t have much else to offer in terms of prospects. The only other options there are Kunin or Tolvanen, and I’d take Tomasino over both of them.

I feel as if Nashville really likes him too. Kind of my guess sort of like Florida really likes Lundell

Yet I would love for the Rangers to somehow make either of those happen.

I mean Buffalo isn’t really wrong with wanting him to rehab and not have the surgery. That’s usually first line management. Unless thats been tried and failed, Eichel definitely sounds like he’s the one asking for more aggressive treatment. It would be interesting if he would feel the same way on another team, but you don’t gut a good portion of your roster/future for interesting.

It has to be an immediate no deal if Buffalo is trying to hide his medical reports
Exactly. This is why I don’t mind an Eichel deal, if it goes down. I would presume there an understanding that he’s ok or at least the issue is fully under control. So I don’t bother with the medical discussion. It’s a thing or it’s not.

Say the Rangers acquire a 1st from St Louis, that gives them (2) 1st's this year at around the mid-point in the 1st round. How much more would need to be added to get #2...

A lot.

This is Seattle's first pick in franchise history. They aren't trading it away for anything less than a really, really stupid return.

I'd love to have Beniers or Eklund, but not at that price.

Buch for 8th overall?

I think Buch is worth more than that, honestly. What are the odds the number eight pick becomes as good as Buch? Serious question, is the average eighth overall as good as Buch? I kind of doubt it. But considering it’s also a bit of a crapshoot, I would want more than the 8. Maybe Buch and 15 (or a later pick) for a legit center prospect and 8?

I wouldn't suggest posting that on the mains. LA fans think all of their C prospects are the second coming of Gretzky.

What's worrying to me is if Buchnevich is getting heavily rumored with some west coast team, like LAK or STL, then it gives me the vibe that Drury is gonna move Strome+Kakko in the Eichel deal. And I really hope Kakko doesn't get moved, there has to be a way we can get Jack without giving up Kakko
Rangers aren't giving up Buch and Kakko in the same offseason.

My wife is waiting for the ED to be done with.

It probably wouldn't take too much more to get into the 4-8 range, but Seattle won't trade #2 for two later 1sts, since it's the first draft pick in franchise history. Drafting #2 and taking a potential impact guy like Beniers is too good of publicity and hype for a brand new franchise. I could see them packaging #2 and some of their ED selections to go after the first "star" player for their team, but not to trade back for an additional pick. But I think we could get into the top 5 and possibly nab someone like Eklund.

I think Sammy Blais or Zach Sanford+17 would be a deal that makes sense for both teams. Both of those guys are cheap but tough to play against and have enough skill. Plus the 1st.

As much as I hate the idea of trading him.

The last handful of #8s have been Ristolainen, Nylander, Werenski, Nylander, Mittelstadt, Boqvist, Broberg, Quinn.

W. Nylander and Werenski are good. Boqvist, Broberg and Quinn are too new to make a decision about. #8 is definitely a crap shoot.

Robert Thomas? The Blues don't have much to trade.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned St. Louis and Nashville are very interested in Buchnevich. There are other teams too.

The Blues have a first rounder at #17. Really #16

Bidding war!!!

I do hope that the trading of the first rounder thing has to do with this draft class, and not a signal that we are gearing up for our 4 consecutive years without 1sts right now before we've even made the playoffs.

Buch is better than the average #8 pick. But we'd be trading Buch at near-UFA price for a player we get at RFA prices for 7 years. If that player turns out to be exactly Buch that's a huge win.
