this is rudimentary but if Chytil got Dvorak's minutes (which is affected by his injury so bear that in mind) and we assume he maintained the same p/60, he would've had 30 ES points. That would have tied him with Tavares, Huberdeau, and Farabee for 23rd among all forwards.

I'm sure someone will find a way to say that's not actually good but it's something to think about.

Miro Heiskanen’s deal is telling. Fox, Laf & Kakko are going to cost a fortune. Can’t keep all three if you’re going to keep Trouba, Kreider, Zibby and Buch.
Kakko will probably get a bridge deal, even if he finally explodes offensively.

But these are things that have to be kept in mind, before we sign a guy like Goodrow to a big ticket. Shesty and Buch this summer. Fox, Kakko, Kravtsov, Zibanejad, Strome next summer. And after that it's Laf and Miller (and Jones). Some very big contract negotiations coming up. Just because we have cap space now to sign a guy like Goodrow or Sutter, doesn't mean we have to ponder very carefully about the term and the AAV of these contracts. 'Cause ultimately a guy like Goodrow is a complementary piece compared to a guy like Kakko or Kravtsov (hopefully).

Buch has to go b/c of the Kreider contract IMO. This rebuild can become the league wide joke as the Rangers become the top NHL farm for development and lose many due to cap stupidity.

I mean Laff and Kakko have to produce. Fox won a Norris so as it stands today he should not be lumped together with Laff, Kakko and Shesh.

This team will be in serious trouble if both Laff and Kakko aren't eventually in line for a large pay day.

Shesh will get 5x$5MM AAV more than likely.

P/60 would only apply if he was matching up with the same opponents. So yeah it don’t matter.

I know you say it's rudimentary, but you have to admit it's a leap to assume he will maintain his production while routinely facing top 4 defense and defensive forward units. Of course he is young and improving, so he should offset any dip eventually.

His p/60 is becoming scientific proof he will maintain elite level production with more minutes. I'm not arguing he stinks, it's a faulty logic though. People are going to have the same disappointment as Kakko and Lafreniere not scoring 60 points in their rookie years.

Dvorak would be fine but he doesn’t move the needle much for me

and you’d probably have to overpay to get him because what else does Arizona have center wise? Squat

so for those reasons, I’m out

I'm talking about Chytil's P/60. The assumption is, in number only, he gets Dvorak's TOI.

You misread.

see above.

The #1 pick overall is definitely lumped in with Fox. I’m thinking the #2 is too. This line of cap preparation is why, if the fans were in charge, the Rangers would lose all these guys. Hoping the Rangers are smarter yet if they resign guys like Kreider, go shopping for the Trouba’s and award everybody these NTC, the Rangers are the NHL best farm system for the rest of the NHL.

2nd line center signed for 4 more years at good money?

Like how good do you think Nils is? He isn't Fox.

People have no issue throwing Jones into trades. The gap between him and Nils isn't that big.
I think Nils has the potential to be very good. A Norris winner? Probably not. But I see him as being significantly better than Zac Jones. So yes I have no problem throwing Jones’ name out there, who is more of the same with no PP time really available since we have Fox.

Nils for Dvorak would be piss poor asset management.

Kind of strange we have gotten nothing from Brooks, is he on vacation or is the lid clamped down that tight?
Instead we get Carp publishing an article an hour before the expansion lists were announced in which he says it's certain that Blackwell will be protected and Rooney will be headed to Seattle. I have more sources than this clown does.

Just because you are a #1 pick doesn't mean your next contract is going to be $7MM+ AAV. You have to produce. I hope he breaks out this coming season.

Unless Kakko has a very strong season, he will likely get a bridge. After that contract and he produces then he will get paid.

Fox has produced and won a Norris. He will get over $8MM in his next contract.

I honestly do not know what people are expecting from an acquired center.

Do you expect all of our players to be 'line-drivers'? We need complimenting pieces. Dvorak fits that category.

Even Zibanejad needs help. Kreider was the line driver for him 2-3 years ago.

When Brooks is left in the dark he usually totally shuts up for a few weeks or comes out swinging. For example, see his report last summer about there being a legit risk that Nils Lundkvist would sign elsewhere due to the RD logjam. It came totally out of the blue and draft picks rarely refuses to sign with their team just because there is a log jam at their position. So much happen over a couple of years and so forth.

so you want budget as if he’s going to stink or sign south of $4 million? Buch is on the table right now and we’re a few months from Zibby being there too. What’s your play with these other contracts and NTC already on the books with a flat cap?

IMO, Laf, Kakko, Fox and possibly Shes is your team. That’s the future and that’s the core you protect and have a high budget for.

After seeing what Heiskanen signed for, I think its safe to say that he will be getting over 9 on his next one.

Also Laf is almost certainly going to pop by the time his elc is up. He was starting to towards the end of the season ad that was with no PP time. It'd be wise to keep those dollars open as you'd rather have them and not use them then not have them and need them, and we're probably going to need them.

As mentioned, unless something changes with the CBA fast, I would wager that Kreider and/or Trouba go on LTIR within the next two to three years with a recurrent PE and PCS, respectively.

I am trying to determine what I would give Seattle to take Tanev and trade him here. I think he would be PERFECT for this team. Would a 3rd be enough? Hajek + 3rd?

I really hope playoff only players doesn't become a new norm around the league.

Among other concerns, it'll really mess with regular season statistics/award/records.

oh gee, that is one black eye for the NHL. Tampa built a powerhouse and flexed that while the Rangers, my gosh (smh)
