he doesn’t have to be and I don’t think that would be the expectation.

But if you're paying your top RHD prospect and a first this year, you're either getting a two year rental or going to pay the guy to be a leader and a main dude. Too hefty a price to pay in my opinion.

As the minutes go by the odds of anything big yet alone small happening are miniscule at best. A lot of operatic speculation in my opinion.

It takes two to make a deal, and Drury as a first time GM is ensuring he's not taken advantage of with the "Rangers Tax" which is the Rangers always having to pay more in trades due GMs like Ferguson, Esposito, post-94 Smith, and pre-05 Sather feeling the "pressure" of having to make a splash/win and the dumb "New York Minute" crutch.

It would be super funny that we've all spent a lot of time on hypothetical situations and the Rangers end up picking Svechkov, Lucius/Cornato/Raty with pick #15 and call it a day until after the UFA storm.

All this "the Rangers are fiending to get rid of pick #15 because the draft stinks" is purely opinion. Show me the links, show me the fact. Show me other words than "possible/potentially/maybe" in play.
The concept of a Rangers tax is silly. Where was the Rangers tax on the Zibajanad trade? What about Nash to Boston?

C’mon man!

Lindros trade, Dunham trade, original asking price of Nash trade, St. Louis trade, Eric Staal trade, Zuccarello trade (lack of return), McD trade...I'm not going to bring up Esposito's record because in my opinion he is a top three worst NY GM of all time. Impulsive clown who should have neve been hired.

Ziba and Nash were Gorton's finest. The Nash trade was a fleece the moment it happen. Nash is another guy who was thought of as a superstar but was for one season in NY. I'm going to use the "Roo hates Zuccarello" rule and apply it to Nash. I don't hate either, they just weren't the superstars we the fanbase made them out to be. Ziba is because Ottawa essentially "gave up" on him and wanted more vets.

They say this every year and then the big moves end up being a couple middle six guys getting moved. NHL GMs are afraid to make any trade bc they’re afraid of getting burned. Their job security is number 1 in their list so the safe course of just standing pat and making tweaks to the fringes is always the preferred option for them.

It's a mid first in a weak draft and a prospect who has 0 games of NA experience.

Honestly, I don't think it's enough going the other way but I also don't think that Nils is the second coming so there is that.

View attachment 453540 that’s the answer? That’s all you have?

nothing that hasn’t already been said.

Looking for an experienced defenseman, interested in some bigger names like Larkin, Buch remains a trade candidate, lurking on Eichel but not at the current asking price, etc.

That’s what I got Holmes, as I finish up moving.

Depending on the cost, I agree
St Louis has three options with Dunn, since they aren't going to protect him:

1. Lose him for nothing
2. Trade Seattle a haul to not pick him
3. Trade him to a team that actually can protect him and recoup assets, albeit small because their hands are basically tied.

Dunn won't cost a lot to trade for, or not as much as he would have at the trade deadline last season or something. They'll want assets for him.

And Gauthier, Spooner, Chytil, Kravtsov.

Quinn has been in charge 3 years and it's remembered for players lashing out and how an interim head coach got more out of the team than he ever could.

Not sure why this needs to be gone over again and again but Spooner sucked dogshit. Talk about a perimeter player. Getting Strome for him was highway f***ing robbery.

turning into Carp with the Captain Obvious generalizations ;)

In all seriousness, much appreciated.

Now if we can get those who don’t know hockey beyond their PS3 system to stop offering their opinion, the value of content here would go way up.

The issue with St Louis trading Dunn is that they'll still need to lose someone to Seattle. So sure, they could recoup some assets for Dunn but then they're likely going to lose a forward. So the question really becomes: Do they value those guys over whatever assets they'd get back for Dunn?

I'm sure they have a good idea of who they might lose if not Dunn, so maybe if a team can give them a similar player back it makes sense.

He looked for a couple weeks like he might be the next brassard, but he is just not nearly skilled enough to play that style of game in North America

The Rangers should absolutely leverage that 3rd D protection slot. Dunn would be a great get for the left side.

Does it matter? Are his words any less valuable because he was traded? What Spooner said was very eye-opening into how Quinn coached this team. Ignoring that because he's no longer on the team is foolish.
