Kakko was very vocally displeased with DQ in Finnish media as well. Hank has said some things that have not been snapped up too...

Quinn was not a good head coach. This is factual not emotional. Look at the data, look at the 1,000 too many men penalties. Look at the progression of anyone other than Fox/Lindgren/Buch.

He's in the rearview mirror. We should forget about him. Do we still talk about Ron Low or Tom Webster?

That was my initial thought, too, but now imagine this completely-feasible-scenario, five years from now: three years since Larkin signed a fat contract with another team, Nils is playing 24:00 a night with the Red Wings.

Trades for core players are supposed to hurt.

All this talk about acquiring Larkin, what about keeping Larkin? He hits UFA in two years. How much is he going to cost? How willing will he be to stay here?

Sooo many things can happen in that time.

Not making a move because of that is paralisys by analysis.

Not even a consideration in my humble opinion

As the minutes go by the odds of anything big yet alone small happening are miniscule at best. A lot of operatic speculation in my opinion.

It takes two to make a deal, and Drury as a first time GM is ensuring he's not taken advantage of with the "Rangers Tax" which is the Rangers always having to pay more in trades due GMs like Ferguson, Esposito, post-94 Smith, and pre-05 Sather feeling the "pressure" of having to make a splash/win and the dumb "New York Minute" crutch.

It would be super funny that we've all spent a lot of time on hypothetical situations and the Rangers end up picking Svechkov, Lucius/Cornato/Raty with pick #15 and call it a day until after the UFA storm.

All this "the Rangers are fiending to get rid of pick #15 because the draft stinks" is purely opinion. Show me the links, show me the fact. Show me other words than "possible/potentially/maybe" in play.

Not sure why they would trade for one of those guys when you can just get Saad for cash.

Maata and picks/prospects for Eberle actually makes a lot of sense for the Islanders.

Islanders fulfill their expansion requirement because Seattle has no use for Maata. They save even more cap room. Enough cash to resign Cizikas or add another reclamation project.

Let's see what everyone thinks:

Let's say there a deal on the table for a top center no lower then a 2C ( Larkin, Krebs, the kid from the Ducks, ETC ) and in that proposed deal is one of the following D-man:

Miller
Nils
Schneider

You can only keep 2 as one will go in the trade--you are keeping and who's going.

Remember we still have Foxy, Trouba, Lindy, Jones, Robertson, Skinner and a few more ranked alittle lower.

Guy to my head I think I'm keeping--Miller and Nils. I do like Schneider as he's tough as nails and will bring an element of clearing out in front of the net that we possible haven't seen since Beuk.

The upside to Nils is to enticing--if his offense turns out to be close to Foxy--oh baby. Fox and Nils on the PP could be deadly.

Just wondering what everyone thoughts would be as I know each of us has their own opinion.

Schneider is a necessity because his game is so different than everyone else and he has size.

You don't have to trade any of them. Remember Trouba will miss time. He always does.

This is not the Kobayashi Maru, and if it is you go full James T. Kirk and "change the rules". Jones is the answer.

Zibs-Chytil-Danault-Rooney/Frederich and run on the left side Laf-Panarin-CK-Barron[easier to break in as a winger ] and on the right go with KK-VK[new guy?] -Cuyle/Gauthier .

Move Strome-Buch and work hard on developing some kids in the system along with Blackwell-various stragglers as use as needed types . Danault will be needed to shut down Barzal-Canes big guy -Crosby-Backstrom-Hughes just to get out of our division . That is a vital piece for us and insulates us if Chytil can't be a 2 C . We have two years to get the mix finalized....work it under Gallant and make the moves needed as they arise and at our convenience and budget fits . We are sitting pretty darn good right now . Keep Zibs deal to 5-6 years if possible . That also provides 4 guys that can mix it up in Barron-New Guy-Frederich-Cuyle up front . Find a goon if we need one...probably won't .

We'll be a solid club and we will score a lot with the talent we have getting better every game . Don't undervalue what we have right now .Find the left side guy that can be a 2-3 pairing D guy all depending of course on Miller evolving into what we hope for and while Robertson and Jones cook . Pick the best one in Nils/ Schneider and season the other.

We won't win a cup this year...and probably not next season either....but we will be making clubs take notice of us over the next two seasons and they will pay a price when they play the Rangers . Plus ...we likely will still have all our top kids in our stable and they will be ready for season 3 .

Never did the math...but it should be close . Shesty and a decent back up !

Everyone needs to stop being scared of yzerman. He just gifted the isles and picked up a declining, overpaid leddy

I'm not "scared" of Yzerman at all. What I am is against trading Nils/Kravstov for Larkin. I don't think he's "the guy" to take this team to the next level.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, I just don't see him as that alpha in NY.

Maybe I shouldn’t have directed it directly at you. But a lot of people on this forum want to stay away with trading with him because they believe we will get fleeced

he doesn’t have to be and I don’t think that would be the expectation.

LOL it's all good, it wasn't me being defensive more like "I'm willing to go into a dark alley with Yzerman and not flinch and tell him I don't want his asset".

Guy was a top 100 player in the league and has been a great GM, but he looks like Mike Patton's (singer) brother nowadays. Doug Armstrong looks more "scary". :)
