Changing agents at this point may seem like he wants to take a lesser deal? Kind of weird a few days into free agency. Obviously there was some disconnect.

Maybe he'll take a 1year/2M deal to stay in NYC if that is what he wants. At some point for some people, money is 2nd or 3rd on the list.

Few things.

- I think the team buys out Goodrow before the window closed if they were serious about bringing Tarasenko back. If this is an instance of them getting things done on their terms then great. But I don't think he's coming back and others have indicated that he's likely going to be a Senator so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

- Perreault should stay in college until his body catches up with his game. Might be 2 years, might be 3. Reminds me a ton of Stepan body wise at the same stage in their career - He needed 2. This is a player who will likely bypass the AHL all together when he's ready so how ever much time he needs to get his frame up to speed is okay with me.

- Anyone who thinks Panarin isn't physically declining and was just held hostage by Gallant is lying to themselves.

We can’t buy goodrow out. Window is closed.

STL media has been touting that he wants a payday since before he got traded. Always seemed like biased reporting to me because of how they all, lick Armstrong's boots.

How bad does he want to be a Ranger, I guess, is the question. He could be one by COB if he signs a nothing deal like a couple vets already have for us. How much of a discount does he need to give us for us to attach a pick to Goodrow? And I'd assume Drury needs to have the Miller/Laf bridge deals in the drawer so he knows what he's working with.

Sometimes things change. We didn't think we could 'afford' Kane until it was forced by Kane. Drury, talking to Tanks agents didn't think we could 'afford' Tank, until it was forced. I'm just saying it's a possibility.

I dont think he's physically declining in that it's age related.

It's lifestyle related and team demand. He has a lavish lifestyle in the offseason probably and had mickey mouse training camps/practices, you will 'deteriorate' as in not be at your peak condition.

Same thing that might be plaguing him, is similar to what may be plaguing Laffy. Maybe it's a country club atmosphere?

Wheeler was an enticing pickup at $800k.
I would not be as hopeful for Tank at $4-$6 mill.

Seems mathmatically impossible to sign Tarasenko even at a healthy discount.
The same it’s always been he would need to take 4.5 max and Goodrow would need to be gone (whole cap). As others have stated if the Rangers thought they could get Tarasenko why not buy out Goodrow when they could and have that almost 4M?

I posted this in the Wheeler thread…

Player A
69 games
18 G 32 A 50 P (21 ES)
50.6 CF
104.2 PDO
45.5 CF at ES
1.0 G/60 (.9 ES)
16:21 ATOI

Player B
72 games
16 G 39 A 55 P (31 ES)
58% CF
101 PDO
54.0 CF at ES
.8 G/60 (.8 at ES)
17:03 ATOI

Now you can argue the age factor but…

We’re not even sure Tarasenko would take 4-4.5

If im Drury, and Tarasenko's agents are circling back, Id tell him the absolute most we could offer is a 1 year 3.5 mil contract, and that he needs to sit tight until we can move the contract. I love Tarasenko but Wheeler signed for essentially nothing, and the Rangers probably know they can get Kane for essentially nothing whenever he gets healthy. Vlad is definitely a luxury, not a need, at this point.
