That’s NOT where it started. It’s just the first comment I made. AFTER you listed 7 players that had more EV average ice time than Chris. I mean you can see from the context of my statement that I’m referencing that. Go back and look. I’ve never argued he doesn’t have first line skills or wasn’t a really good player. You’re arguing against something I neither said nor implied. In fact I’ve said the opposite more than once now. I’m actually a big fan. But I think he and the team would benefit if the kids can pick up some more slack and keep his minutes a little lower going into his mid 30s now. You disagree? Fine. Doesn’t change that that is what I think and how I hope it goes.

The biggest 3 words here are "if the kids". It is time they put up or shut up. If they play well they will have earned more playing time but it needs to be for that reason.

More than likely what happened is teams called Drury about Lafreniere and he informed them he's not available.

So, both are technically correct. But it's being portrayed as Drury shopping Lafreniere which I do not believe to be accurate.

Just hack writers with nothing else to do as they have no legit sources within the NYR Org.

A third line player in terms of EV MINUTES. I guess all of this could avoided if I had been more specific. Hahahaha.

I STILL disagree with the premise entirely. If a guy is playing both the PP and PK throughout the game then others benefit with more even strength ice time because said player is gassed from those two elements.

And, in context, it's particularly glaring given the Rangers "1st PP Unit" is typically out there 1:15-45 of EVERY power play under Gallant. If you've got 3-4 PP's in a game, 3-4 PK's in game, of course his even strength ice time is going to be skewed.

My feelings on Wheeler are known on these boards. However, this is Trouba's team and by all accounts, he is an inclusive guy. I think this is one of the big reasons why Goodrow is still on this team. They are good extensions of the coaching staff and they won't stand for bullshit.

Maybe you hate his contract(Trouba and Goodrow for that matter), but Trouba's on ice explosion, coupled with his clear in lockeroom call out(reported or not) is exactly what this team needed and needs. He is a real leader and just giving the captaincy to anyone doesn't always work out.

People think, especially on these boards, that these things don't matter, but they do. Time and again it is proven that someone that can galvanize the room and point everyone in one direction for one goal proves to be, not only important, but necessary for success in this league.

Tarasenko in a vaccuum sounds nice if we could move Goodrow but then Kakko might even get pushed down with the Wheeler signing and how the Rangers do things.

It’s a youth league and we need Chytil, Kakko, Laf and Miller to take the next steps.
