How much does OEL cost?

I haven't watched him play in years.. He could fill that hole if the cost is right

Depending on contract, I'd take OEL in a heartbeat. He'd be a great Mikkola replacement on the 3rd pair to go with Schneider, if we're not promoting Jones.

I’ll never understand the boards obsession with bringing in other teams problems when we can’t figure out our own. Sharangovich was a healthy scratch in the playoffs and if the “genius” Devils don’t want him, why should we?

OEL is not good. What are we doing here.

I like the Blake Wheeler idea if he is bought out and is affordable.

Still think we end up with Kane and LTIR him as one of the 2 RW slots needed to be filled

Everyone on this board just dumpster dives every time a player is available

It's too offset our obsession of not wanting to bring in re-tread coaches...

Sherangovich is a good player but is going to want too much money. Pass.

He was scratched because the Devils acquiring Meier took his spot. There was no place for him.

Wheeler + Kane means it’s back to the kids as a third line all over again.

Wheeler + Kane means it’s back to the kids as a third line all over again.

Why? Why couldnt Wheeler be on the 3rd line with Kreider-Troch?

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kane
Panarin-Chytil-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Wheeler

I think we all need to understand that this year is probably going to be a lot of a mash up again. If the team wants to compete, getting guys on good deals is going to be necessary. I really like the idea of Wheeler. His size, strength and ability to use his reach to create and cause turnovers would be very helpful. He’s also been a good 2-way winger for years. He’s actually someone who Kaako should watch more of (from when he was younger).

I don’t think Kane will be able to sign until he’s healthy. That means they will probably need to find a backfill for him until at minimum December/January.

what you're describing is some perfect utopia that will never take place in real life IMO.

The proper way to do things is the way we did it. We established a vet core and infused youth. That vet core failed and we've underperformed. Eventually that infused youth becomes the Vet group and you need to keeping rotating in youth. G

Adding more youth does not fix our issue.
Having an entire team of youth does not fix our issue.

The object is winning. Cap does not allow for you to have an abundance of young performing talent.... that's the point of the cap. We need to fix the coaching issue or replace some of the 'core vets'. Re-asses next offseason. We also need to stop offloading 1sts for rentals. I have no problem with using our 1st rounders if we're getting some players with term and/or retention.

It’s not a utopia if so many of the Cup winners (Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh) have done it.

OEL 1yr 1.5M to play third pair with Schneider. He has a good year he gets a good deal next, if not, it’s no worse than the myriad crap we’ve run in that spot.
