He also hasn't dominated at the AHL levelThat would be a very bad idea. He isn't ready. He needs to play a lot and he won't do that in the NHL.

If not I'd just like to see them bring up Garand.
Bringing up a goalie too soon ends careersIf Allaire feels he’s ready I trust him inherently. He’d certainly be a better option than Domingue

Are you referring to the same Gusev that failed in NJ and plays LW? Why?One guy I'd be looking at since we're trying to budget here on a tight cap is Conor Sheary. His last deal he made 1.5M per, I don't think he's getting too much of a raise. He's played with Crosby, he's played with Ovechkin. Wont blow the doors off but 2M or under he's skilled enough to hang in that role. I'd rather see him getting those sorts of minutes than Vesey or Goodrow. For the right price I'd throw Kerfoot in that category as well if he doesn't stay in Toronto. Might not make too much coming off a down year. A year before he was a 50 point player, 43 of which were 5v5.
Posted last month about all the Euro FAs... a lot of the KHL guys re-upped in Russia. We should be making a big push to get Gusev in here cheap. His contract was recently terminated with SKA for alcohol abuse. Common sense says NYC isn't the best place to rehabilitate, but maybe a new environment and a couple Russkies in Panarin and Shesty help keep him in line. It does kinda make you speculate if this was an issue that lead to him fading out of the NHL. The guy still has legitimate star talent. Vlad Tkachyov, Jeremy Bracco, Ho-Sang and Spooner are still FAs.
HF making progressively worse and worse depth player suggestions until everyone comes to my position (Julien Gauthier should come back)Are you referring to the same Gusev that failed in NJ and plays LW? Why?
1st. He plays either wing 2. Theres little downside on a deal near league minimumAre you referring to the same Gusev that failed in NJ and plays LW? Why?
Yeah I don’t think there’s any reason to rush him, Halak can still play
Blake Wheeler could get bought out by Winnipeg. He turns 37 in August, but he's a big body and still put up good points last season. If we can sign him for fairly cheap, he could be a good middle 6 RW for us on a 1 year deal.
Move Goodrow. Would Buffalo take him for Riley Stillman? Buffalo traded for Stillman last year at the deadline, but didn't give up much for him. In 18 games for them, he only played 12 minutes per game. He was playing 16 minutes per game in Vancouver, with 1:14 per game on the PK. I don't know if he's an upgrade on Harpur, but he's only 25 and could be someone Buffalo would send back to offset Goodrow's cost a bit. They have 6 other dmen under contract and will probably be looking to add someone to their top 4, so Stillman could be the odd man out in any case. Stillman is a LD but he can play both sides.
Sign Wheeler to a 1.5 mil contract with 1.5 in performance bonuses. Move Laf or Kreider to RW. If Cuylle is ready, a 3rd line with Cuylle, Chytil/Trocheck and Wheeler could be pretty good, and Wheeler can play up in the lineup if necessary.

Halak at 900k with 500k in performance bonuses. If Robertson or Scanlin earn a spot, send Harpur down. We've got enough cap space to add a 22nd player if we want, or we can just bank space and use it for roster moves and to pay off at least some of the performance bonuses so less will roll over into the following year.
Miller won't get 4 years as that takes him right to UFA status. It's 3 or less or 5 or more, and we don't have the cap space to give him a 5+ year deal. The Dobson deal (4 mil x 3) is the model for Miller.Once he’s gone, now we can start talking about re-upping Halak and locking up KAM for 4 years.
Sure but if he signs at 1 million why not take him back?
Not after 10 in 16 in the postseason. Probably his last shot at cashing in. And this free agent class is brutal, he'll get a 2-3 year deal from a team.A guy who may take a short term 'show-me' deal is Dadonov. If they're looking for a skilled RWer, it shouldn't be Gusev, it should be Dadonov
The thing is if u keep goody theres almost zero scenario where you can have anything resembling comfortable cap space. Heres the scenario. Signing just acciari and having Robertson as 6D and a 21 man rosterI think Laviolette hire keeps Goodrow here. I honestly think we’re only going to pay Laf & KAM and maybe try to fit one of the player @RangerBoy mentioned. Cuylle and Othmann will add to the roster if they let them run. They will add at the deadline.

Wheeler has been the leader of a locker room that has had consistent issues. Bullying. Hazing. Entitled attitudes from veterans. Trying to dictate lineups. Basically, the problems we think we have in New York, they actually had in Winnipeg, and this guy has been at the head of it along with Scheifele. f*** those guys.Blake Wheeler could get bought out by Winnipeg.
