I thought the Rangers players measured against the Rangers players with ELC bonuses had to play something like 41 games with the Rangers to count. Tarasenko and Mikkola didn't play that many games.
Yeah. I can’t believe what Puck Pedia is saying is correct. If it is, Schneider and Laf should sue. That’s unfair and couldn’t possibly be within the spirit of the agreement.

Looking at the CBA, this is how they write it. It doesn't say the acquired players would of had to have played 42 regular season games with the same group.

Ice time (aggregate and/or per Game). Player must be among top four (4) defensemen on the Club (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played by Player and comparison group).

Mouser posts on this site. Isn't it odd Lafreniere plays in 81 games and doesn't receive the bonus because Taraenko played 31 games for the Rangers? Lafreniere didn't play the 82 games because Gallant made him a healthy scratch last December.

Schneider was never in the running for top 4 D minutes with Fox, Miller, Trouba and Lindgren on the team. Mikkola has more minutes than Schneider but Mikkola was 5th and not in the top 4.

Schneider was nowhere close to the top 4 in TOI among D on the team even before they got Mikkola so I don't know what the point of that tweet is. It's a good example though of writing something blatantly false and people buying it because they don't take the 10 seconds to verify it on their own.

It seems PuckPedia is right about the comparision group stuff. I asked someone who should know and they wrote this "the comparison group would include players with 42 or more games regardless of team". Lafreniere missed out of $212.500. His agent will get it back in the next contract.

If Buffalo offered pick #13+ for Schneider, would you do it and what would the + need to be?
I’m not moving schneider (who’s got another year on an elc) for a prospect who’s probably 2 years out. We’d then need to replace schneider and we don’t have a prospect ready to replace him.

Sucks for Laf and Schneider, but if it didn't work this way, players who get traded mid-season wouldn't hit their performance bonus targets.
This makes sense. Thank you. I still think they should figure out a better way.

I'm going to predict that Cam Talbot signs with NYR as the new backup this offseason.
Had this thought too. Makes some sense depending on what Halak wants to do. one or the other.

No. The likelihood of that pick being able to replace Schneider immediately are pretty slim, there's no one to take his spot on the farm, and we can't afford to sign a replacement for his cost controlled contract.

If anyone is going the other way for a pick, it needs to be a forward.

Do people think Schneider will never get better? We are too thin on defense and I think he still has top 4 potential.

I mean I don't see too many posters advocating to trade him or demote him, but I think that may also be in part because of the lack of depth you alluded to.

We're in 'ride or die' mode with Schneider because of the Lundkvist trade.
