Another thought:

The Red Wings look like they're going to have 5 picks in this upcoming draft all within the top 50. I'm going to wager that they're not going to keep all 5 and will look to deal one or two of the 2nd rounders or even the later of their 1st rounders for help now. No playoffs for them in seven years running now. The pressure is going to be on Stevie Y to get back in especially with their captain locked up. They'll look to make moves at the draft and this summer.

I don't see the Rangers trading Trouba this summer, but there may be a shock move (or two) that the Rangers may make this summer if they come up short of the Cup. I think they hesitate because Schneider hasn't been an NHL player since November. Still, it's something to think about, and the Wings will have cap space this summer.

The Rangers will need to move Goodrow to sign their RFA's.

Goodrow to Detroit for Detroit's own 2023 2nd rounder (no retention on NYR's end)

If the Rangers want to make a big move and think that Trouba's best days are behind him (FWIW, I think he's been fine since he's gotten over his injury), Detroit would be the only place I'd see him waive to.

Gustav Lindstrom. Anton Stralman lite. Get in on him before the secret gets out. Break out candidate written all over him.

Goodrow and Trouba to Detroit with no money retained for Lindstrom, NYI 2023 1st that Detroit owns, Detroit's own 2023 2nd.

Rangers clear $9 million of net cap space after paying Lindstrom 2 years, $1 million/season cap hit.

Playoffs start next week. Motion to table craziness like this until late June at the earliest lol

I agree with you here. I wouldn't trade Trouba...yet.

Panarin is the guy getting dealt if he has another bad to mediocre playoffs, IMO.

Goodrow to Detroit this summer is something I see as very likely.

Draft capital that would be fair value? Check.

Cap space? Check.

Roster construction need? Check.

Previous Stevie Y connection from Tampa? Check mate.
Yzerman was out of the org by the time Goodrow got there.

For me, it's probably Detroit or San Jose for Goodrow. Both spots I could see making sense

Goodrow has value around the league, even at his cap number. Any GM with cap space will be lining up for him. A second round pick is a very fair return.
Lol. No.

No one sane is going out of their way for an over paid bottom six player with that kind of term

Is it that the Flyers don't want him or he doesn't want the Flyers? He is eligible to make that decision as he stayed for 4 years right?
I was reading that they didn’t want him but as @I Eat Crow mentions, it could have been injuries. So maybe he’s worth a flier (pun intended) :)
No idea what his market will be.

No. Trouba was terrible defensively early in the season when he was clearly injured.
He played through it and both him and K'andre's numbers suffered.

As someone else posted, since 1/1 their numbers have completely flipped.

Trouba has been mediocre to bad at defense for years now. It has nothing to do with his flip from abysmal back to mediocre since 1/1.

Think Goodrow without any retention returns a 2nd and a decent prospect.

Give that contract amount to Tarasenko for 3 years. Sign Motte for longer term (3 years) for a lower cap amount ($1MM). Gives him some security where he isn't moving every offseason and then again at the TDL.

Depending on how much the cap goes up see if you can get Mikkola reupped around $1.75MM for 2 years. Re-sign Miller 3 years $4MM. See if Laff will take a 1 year deal at $2MM and then sign long term the following summer when the cap really jumps.

I'll let a neutral third party chime in. Anyone want to volunteer?

Ill go with a 3rd and 5th rounder. But depends on who else wants him. I could see Detroit, buffalo, san jose, ANa, all being interested. Goodie is still a swiss army knife forward who plays every position, pks, plays a good two way game, can chip in some points and good leadership with a championship to his name. He does not have negative value around the league.

"Kreider has scored 88 goals over the past two seasons, seventh in the NHL behind luminaries Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, David Pastrnak, Auston Matthews, Alex Ovechkin and Mikko Rantanen" - NYP

Trouba has been fine if you stop looking at him in a vacuum with singular focus instead of evaluating the whole package. He was clearly incapacitated through mid December.

Another Larry Brooks special. Compliments Kreider while making him defend himself for not hitting 50 again.

With all due respect this post is just wishful thinking, one item after another.

I have been keying in on San Jose for Goodrow and I could see something like:

4th '23 + 5th '23 + 7th '24 for Goodrow

I think it will be a few later round picks

I don’t know if Tarasenko will take that low of a contract. 3 years sounds fine, because of his age, but I think he could command like around 5 million on the market.

If he wants to stay, for a few more years, he would have to take an extremely team friendly deal.

Panarin‘s 11.6 million has really handcuffed this team, but when he scores 2 goals in a game, then really can’t complain.

Goodrow is gone if Mikkola, Kane, or Tarasenko or another FA is prioritized which will happen imo.

Depending on the cap, our cup window, his play, players behind him - Trouba will most likely be gone summer of 2024 when his clause adjusts and he makes 6 mil. Replacing him will be harder than some here may think.

I was looking at the goalie depth for next season and does anyone else think Domingue is going to be the backup next year?

Garand
Boyko
Lindbom

I could see them wanting to get Garand more time in the AHL with Boyko and Lindbom splitting time based on who is playing better in the ECHL.

I'd love Halak back but the difference between what he may want and what Domingue makes may be $500-$900k which could be used elsewhere...

Perhaps sign another vet to battle Domingue for a minimal salary, say someone like Zachary Fucale or Alex Nedeljkovic
