Also Mikkola-Fox is an actual real downgrade on Lindgren-Fox that does damage to our lineup, let's not kid ourselves.

The biggest part of my plan is replacing it with Miller-Fox.

Also, from the secret menu:

We could explore getting a right D and replacing Schneider with a player that belongs in the NHL since we're clearly in win-now mode.

Maybe I'm in the minority.... I think Lindgren is 'done' for the season. By done I mean he will not be 100% and will have shoulder issues the rest of the way. His shoulder will keep popping out. "HF MDs hurdur". Hopefully I'm wrong, I just cant see it after 'hurting' it on such a innocuous play. He left the ice hunched over, it probably got popped back in by the trainers, then he came out again.

Once again, hopefully I'm wrong. If I'm not, Drury really dropped the ball here. He should have been LTIR'd and another defenseman should have been added

That's because his partner got worse for most of those games.

Miss me with the "Fox was struggling" nonsense. The Rangers are on an eternal powerplay when he's on the ice.
Nah, Fox was ass for a while after the ASB.

So suggesting Kane on 1x$1 is Rongos but simultaneously suggesting 31-yo Tarasenko who’d want a money deal so probably 4x$6 contract give or take is not Rongos? Please…..

I don't know what to tell you, Kane 1x1m is just not gonna happen, EVEN IF Kane would take that deal I'd rather have Tarasenko in any way shape or form, as he his the far better all-around player. Kane is pure offense, if he doesn't bring that, he's just a small floating body.

Kane is an older slower Panarin, his defense is almost non-existant and as he ages more, his wheels will fall of more too. At least, it's what I expect.

I will just keep saying I see no reason why Kane won't age well. The guy is going to continue putting up large point totals every year. His playing style allows for him to do wo without taking a lot of physical punishment. That's been his entire career.

Well, then I'll answer just answer, I see no reason he will. His game is his wheels, we'd have to wait for after the hip surgery.

Gretzky was once ass for a few games too.

Fox is better this year than the year he won the Norris.

His teammates suck at scoring. Fox is on the ice for 3.03 expected goals-for every 60 minutes and Erik Karlsson is on the ice for 3.09 expected goals-for every 60 minutes. If Fox got the on-ice shooting that Karlsson is getting, he would have over 80 points already. He's like ten standard deviations better at defense than Karlsson.

That Fox is better this year than the year he won the Norris and would finish the season with close to 90 points if his teammates finished at the rate they just normally do.

I thought it was pretty clear.
No one argued any different.

The point was he was better pre-ASB. His game slipped post-ASB. Mikkola with Fox pre-ASB would have better metrics, probably not better than with Lindgren, but better nonetheless.

tldr; Fox is good. The pair goes as he goes. The metrics would be closer if his level of play was a constant.

Who would be the ideal partner for Trouba if we pair Miller and Fox?

I still prefer to keep Lindgren but if you guys say Miller and Fox is better take your word for it, have not seen it enough to make an assumption on it.

Miller - Trouba for the most part has been good, they have their moments but overall I think is a very solid pairing.

Only concern now is the bottom pairing but that will improve once Lindgren returns and pushes Harpur to 7D.

Kreider sucked last game and I've been underwhelmed with him overall since the ASB.

The rest of the regular season really doesn't matter though. As long as he shows up in the playoffs I'm cool.

Brian Leetch would work..... but he's on the smallish side for this coaching staff

But the idea is another PMD. Maybe it's best to keep them separated but if we can land another puck mover that the coaching staff trusts, KAM Fox can play biiiiiiiig boy minutes. It would be crazy to think what they'd be capable creating with that much talent on the ice.

If he was affordable, Ghost is a good option. Although I have always thought Jones-Trouba would be a good pairing if given some time.

It's a joke we can't rest a guy like Fox or Kreider a game here and there down the stretch. At least GG is doing the right thing and keeping everyones minutes in check.
I don't care if Harpur and Schneider play 25 min a night the rest of the way until april 13th.

same - I advocated for that this past offseason

though to be very honest Jones has not at all impressed at the NHL level. he was really bad his stint here this year (was that Schneider's fault? lol but really no)

Jones has 65 points in 101 AHL games.

At a certain point you have to sink or swim in the NHL. NYR have to re-sign him. Will Jones request a trade privately?

He's done more than Pionk had at the same age. Now Neal is overpaid, granted, but very much an NHL defenseman.

I didn't think Jones was bad, I just thought he was kind of unimpressive. As an undersized offense-first player, you have to be good. If you're just there, you're perceived as being terrible. If you're 6'6" and you're terrible, you're perceived as being just there.

This is why NHL teams consistently drink bleach instead when the bodega is out of their favorite beer.

What I don't understand is that teams are afraid to play these undersized mediocre puck-movers (even if they're much better than dreck like Harpoon) because they don't want Neal Pionk (understandable), but actual Neal Pionk is a no-questions-asked regular, farting along in the 2nd percentile defensively and putting up 35 points.

Sometimes I reach the point where I'm just like "yeah, they just like bad players."
