You hope Laf and Kakko take another step forward this offseason.

Frank Seravalli was discussing the free agency class for this summer. He believes Kane could be talked into accepting a one year contract worth $1M or a three year contract worth $3M or $5M AAV. Kane has a limited amount of teams he wants to play for. Kane has made a lot of money in his career. He knows cap space is tight. Kane is a sharp hockey guy. He was talking about Kirby Dach's development in Chicago. The Hawks had Dach playing on the fourth line and that's not Dach. Healthy scratches. The Hawks rushed Dach. The Habs acquired Dach and he is starting to find his game in Montreal.

Giordano wanted to be traded to Toronto. He stayed in Toronto. Two years. $800,000 AAV. Giordano has made good money in his career and he wasn’t interested in chasing every dollar. He knew the Leafs were facing cap issues.

One year and $1M would be a good deal for the Rangers with the cap expected to increase by $1M. The only thing Kane needs hip surgery which will probably come with a six month recovery period. He may not be ready until late October or November or December. He probably won't be 100% when he comes back. Good days and bad days. Maintenance days.

Lafreniere is stuck on the 3rd line. Kakko could move up.

We're 24-14-2 after outshooting the opponent in the first period, 20-6-9 when outshot by the opponent. Kinda solid.
Now when it comes to the important part, scoring: 9-11-5 after trailing after the first (3-6-2 at home & 6-5-3 playing on the road).
What's encouraging is that we're 15-6-2 when tied after the 1st and 15-2-5 tied after the 2nd. If I was Drury I'd Lou our country club members and put them to the hotels during playoffs. The lousy 1st periods are just insane.

So let's say we're out in the second round, wtf happens? Tarasenko and Kane are gone because we can't afford them and Vesey is back on top 6 RW?
I have 2 options
Laf mika kk
Krei tro chyt
Pan goo ves
New kids
Or
Kid line
Pan mika ves
Krei tro goody
New kids

Both options makes the transition to it being the kid's team
Give them the ice time and PP time
Hopefully they take that next step along with miller and schneider
This lineup makes the POs with igor in net and of course a rental or 2 at deadline will solidify another PO run
As some have already said here, the kids have to become our best players for a legit cup run
I think chytil is close
Need more from laf, Kk, miller and schneids

We could've "buried" him and gotten another NHL minimum player to take his place? I doubt that's step forward.
Thats the piece everyone is missing. Harupr is a replacement level player in the NHL. Anyone who could fit into his spot at the moment, is either a kid playing on a rookie contract, or someone with similar amounts of flaws. Now those flaws might be different, such as hajek being an absolute moron with hockey IQ even tho he's physically talented, or jones being smaller than gallant wants and unable to clear the crease vs bigger players.

But the fact is that we had 750k in space to fill that position with the other moves we made, lindgren got hurt, which forced everyone up a roster spot, and so instead of mikkola, who is solid in that position, we have harpur.
Every team in the playoffs will likely deal with one injury or another.

Break em up. All three lines would benefit.

Kre/Zib/Kak
Pan/Chy/Tar
Laf/Tro/Kan
So i missed last nights game, but right now it seems like thats the only like truly clicking all game instead of one or two shifts. So yeah lets break it apart...

I wasn't the one who made the point but I understand the reasoning behind it. I'm not sure how realistic it was, but we're stuck at this point. The NHL is a joke of a league with this salary cap that is stuck at 2005 levels. We're basically locked into 3rd, but we can't even give someone a night off without playing short a man. It's just a laughable clown show league.

No. I would not.
agreed. If Kane wants the giordano contract, yeah sure that works.
But Kane currently is not worth 3 million a season for 1 year let alone multiples.

Additionally kane would have to accept that he's probably going to be on the third line, as the kids do need to get significantly more ice time. Now lesser time on the ice might actually extend his career significantly, but his ego might not like that.

They click some nights and are dead others. Let’s not assume they become AHLers if we give them other linemates, like I dunno… KANE, ZIB, KREIDER, PANARIN, TARASENKO

sheesh

Not saying that they become ahl players.
I’m saying that the kids are playing well right now.
Why mess with that?
Because the vets who gallant has been riding all season in the top 6 are cold?
Seems like gallant is sorta reaping what he sowed.

I know that some people don’t want to break up the kids, but it might work. Shuffling the top 6 is not doing much. If you check the advanced stats for the kids it actually supports this type of shakeup. Their 5v5 stats are all pretty good (50%+ in CF%, xGF%, SCF%, HDCF%) when playing as a line, or when separated entirely. Their stats tank when you play any two of them together without the third. So they are at their best together or with two veteran linemates.

Keep Kane off this f***ing team please. We dont need him and his panarin like bullshit. I dont care that hes playing on one hip or that he only wants to play for us and will sign for dirt cheap. Hes addition by subtraction with his play.

If you want to get the most out of Kane and Panarin at this stage of their careers they should never ever be on the same line. Kane is a non-factor on the forecheck and in puck battles, and while Panarin is slightly better it's not his best attribute so once they lose the puck it's trouble. They need guys who can get the puck and give it to them. I think Gallant finally went with Kreider-Zibanejad-Kane and Panarin-Trocheck-Tarasenko during the 3rd period hopefully he sticks with it.
