Hahahaha. I thought he wasn't getting less than 5? Good deal. 4.5 just like was said. ;-)

Does this organization ever learn? Four years? Let's just walk him straight to UFA why not. Didn't we just do the same thing with Shesterkin and now we're worried about how commanding huge money in a couple of years?

Figures somebody has to complain about something. 4 years is a solid term, geez. How do you know what his side wanted?

Well obviously it's a hypothetical scenario, but I would trade anybody on this team for Bedard. That includes Fox.

I don't know about that. I mean, from what I've read, there's a lot of Kane comparisons out there as to the type of career that Bedard would have. Fox looks to me like a modern Brian Leetch.

Do I trade Brian Leetch for Patrick Kane? I don't know.

He's on par with McDavid at the same age in a harder league to score in.

Like I said, the hype gets thrown around about every 1OA now but Bedard is a Hall of Famer in a box, batteries included.
I know he's very hyped but I don't think people realize quite how good he is. The WHL doesn't generate the same hype as top prospects in Eastern Canada would. You'll still see a lot of people saying it's crazy to compare him to McDavid. As a prospect, you could very easily make the case Bedard is better.
CHL Career
McDavid 1.72 P/GP
Bedard 2.02 P/GP
WJC Career
McDavid 1.38 P/GP
Bedard 2.08 P/GP

Pretty sure he's projected to be better than Kane.

I realize this is what people are sayi mg but Patrick Kane is going to be, historically, one of, if not the best scorer in American history by the time he retires. In fairness to any young player, everyone should lower the bar a bit.
And mcdavid is on pace to be the best canadian player not numbered 99 or 66.
And we're still saying thats where he's lining up.

Thought experiment:

Would you trade Kakko, Laf, Chytil, and our 1st round pick for the 1st overall pick in this year's draft. On first reaction I said no, but then I thought about it some more, and Bedard is legit going to be a superstar (I mean even the rangers can't f*** that up). You free up the cap space from the kids and get Bedard cost controlled for 3 years (just in time for quite a few expiring contracts). With the freed-up money you can probably re-sign Tarasenko and Kane.

Would a team with the 1st OA pick do it? It essentially gives you 4 big young pieces that would expedite a rebuild.
I would, and more. I would start with any two off the kid line and the opposing G.M. Choice of Miller or Schneider and our 1st round pick.
All those players are replaceable. And even though Millers going to be a star one day; you’ve got to give to get.
Bedard’s upside is generational!

And then you're the oilers with absolutely no depth. This is exactly why they couldn't get out of the first round.
