Well obviously it's a hypothetical scenario, but I would trade anybody on this team for Bedard. That includes Fox.

He's on par with McDavid at the same age in a harder league to score in.

Like I said, the hype gets thrown around about every 1OA now but Bedard is a Hall of Famer in a box, batteries included.
Nobody is saying he won't be a generational talent. The fact is that a generational McDavid is still waiting for a cup after 8 years in the league. You still need players and depth around the generational talent which nobody has explained exactly how that is going to happen in the scenario I presented.

That wasn’t the hypothetical though.
It was all three of the kid line.

1:1 sure there’s no player that I wouldn’t move for him.

But losing an entire line of first round talents and a first ?all of whom have playoff experience and success. Nope. Not doing it.
Assuming best case scenario across the board.
Bedard is a 150 pt player for his career.
Laf Chytil and Kakko should be capable of out producing that assuming pp1 time.

Lemus is exact guy we lack man I miss that guy, one of the best in the game, especially come playoff time
He was our only good player in the bubble, that one game he came back after suspension

You have the oddest scale for best in the game between him & Krav. He was like Avery if Avery sucked at every aspect of the game besides getting people to want to punch him in the face. He's never played more than 60 games. He has 68 points in 266 games, with his best run being on a crap team in Philly (5pts in 9 games).

Yup, This after losing a first last year, already a first this year, and a first or second next year plus vets getting older on a win now team. Not as easy in that situation as some make it seem.

Pepe is a very good 4th liner. If you can have that guy just play 4th line minutes youre in real good shape. Were not asking him to be a top 6 player

He sucks in that role too. Vesey is a very good 4th liner, Pepe is not.

He'd be an extra on our team as it is and I don't want that dude in the room. Everyone hates him.

Perry would be a MUCH better option and I don't really love that one either.

Goodrow to Detroit makes too much sense for me in the offseason..Yzerman, Detroit probably not on his NTC list and they need exactly what he brings.

What we get back no clue.

Also because no one wants to play for Edmonton. It will be far easier to build around Bedard in New York where other players will want to go.
Sure, but you still have to get it done in a timely fashion while your vets are in their prime and without 3 very important young players that you traded and absent a few 1st round draft picks. Again, it's not that easy and I would not make the trade.

You theoretically have a window of 3 years while he's on his ELC. After that you're basically forced to give him a max contract the way edmonton was.
A player of that talent level is worth the 4 first round pick offersheet, so you have to be able to match or get him signed before the elc is over.

Yes hed be an extra right now but you realize were like $10mm over the cap right now, right? Haha. Vesey is an ELITE 4th liner. Pepe is a very good one. To deny that is foolish. Whos a realistic option youd take over him at $900K this offseason and why? And not will cuylle because he is already locked in on the 4th line. Need 2 more. I hope its bjugstad and pepe, but i recognize long shot we get pepe

You get an upgrade at C for less cap space. You have to fill two wing slots but you have cap room to build out a checking third line around Trocheck. I don't know. I think you can build a better team next year.

sure but youre also assuming that he's going to come in and put up more than 45 points without a huge amount of pp time immediately. You also then have to deal with a coach who's not going to put trocheck in a checking line assignment the second bedard makes a mistake. Bedard will be on the 3rd line with goodrow and brodzinski.
The coach wants to win now, not develop kids.

His comparables were PPG their rookie years and won the Hart sophomore year.

I suppose this basically comes back down to what you believe the deal with Lafreniere and Kakko is.

Great deal, would have liked more years but it’s advantageous for Fil this way, takes him straight to UFA

if he’s worth keeping in 4 years, hopefully you can move the Trocheck deal at that point
