My issue with Stastny was his consistency. He would disappear for whole seasons in St. Louis.
Well I'm certainly not paying him what he got the past few seasons lol

It’s only brutal if they don’t perform. Kreider is the one of those four that I would be most worried aboutDanault the player could be a good idea (even if I am not sold on it), the contract attached will be a bad idea.
Panarin, Trouba, Kreider, Danault, at like 32-34M in cap space for the next 4-5 years is brutal.

Kreider will be the next buy out. No way he finishes that contract. Don’t see how he makes it past Lafreniere’s ELC at the maximumhe likely will be overpaid but he’s got a skill set none of our other forwards have and he’s going to be good for 25 goals if he gets ice time even if it’s 3rd line and PP
Oh man. JD could be rubbing his hands together for what ( he perceives) would be an ultimate FU to Jimmy D.

Of course, but they will need the cap room. At that point. Heck they need the cap room nowprobably because at the time they didn’t expect to get Lafraniere. Now they have Panarin and Lafraniere at LW but while he’s here I expect he will produce
He turned down 6x5 mill....what does he want? 7 y x 6 mill... No thanks.

Roster then may not be the same as the roster now. Rangers are going to need most flexibilityI mean as of now Fox is the only one getting paid well out of the kids. I expect they will but the kids have to produce to be worth a big deal when it’s time.
Kreider is what he is, how had that not been determined. Trouba same thing. It’s only brutal if they don’t perform. Kreider is the one of those four that I would be most worried about
I think Trouba is a significantly better bet than Kreider going forwardKreider is what he is, how had that not been determined. Trouba same thing.
There is no upside there that we have not seen.
Even if, he is still the #2 RD behind Fox.I think Trouba is a significantly better bet than Kreider going forward
I could absolutely see danault being a 20 point defensive specialist before longIt’s only brutal if they don’t perform. Kreider is the one of those four that I would be most worried about
Maybe? But at least he would still be contributing defensively, Faceoffs, PK, etc.I could absolutely see danault being a 20 point defensive specialist before long

If Kreider isn’t the good version of Kreider he is offering nothing. Danault is still useful if his offense drops off
It’s not a detriment if his is contributing defensively. Not saying I would sign him (I’m not sure yet) but he plays a playoff style game. The Rangers do not have those players. No he's not. If Danault signs for 6M and the offense falls off he is not useful. He may be a good defensive player but he's a massive detriment to the team with that kind of salary then.
That's wishful thinking. Especially in a league that puts a premium price on centers with recency bias. Multiple teams will bid on him.He turned down 6x5 from Montreal. Doesn't mean he wouldn't accept the same, or less, from another team.

These are secondary players who carry pretty big cap hits, with clauses, Danault will also be a secondary player.
Rangers signing more secondary players with a flat cap that some suggest may last for the next 3-4 seasons is not a good idea.
35... and there's been chatter on this board about acquiring him for nearly a decade...!Wouldn't Stastny due to age, flat cap etc cost less than Danault (especially long term) and he does kind of the same things? He's 35 but that could help the young kids and give more time to evaluate Chytil? just throwing that out there too
