Wouldn't even take him for free at 50% retained at this point. With 2/3 of his zone starts in the offensive zone, and with Calgary's supporting cast, it's mind blowing he only had 23 points this year. Even by accident, he should have at least 40 points playing 3rd line minutes.

i have a feeling Ryan Carpenter willl be our 4th line center next year. Played for Turk. Good at the draw so he will be bad on this team. But he can PK and is a physical player.

I would not mind this at all. Cheap depth and a solid depth player

Agree. In assets and cap. I actually hope they make a "hockey trade" and move strength for weakness. I'd target a center prospect ready for NHL hockey. Easier said than done, but that's what I hope they try to do. I'd try it day one of the draft, if it doesn't work try to trade into the 1st round because there are some centers available in the draft that could hopefully make an impact in a year or two.

That's huge! How wasn't this more prominent news?! The whole scouting philosophy can change. I hope they find a way to trade back into the 1st round because now I'm really curious how the drafts will be handled.

I think you should prepare for our drafts to be relatively uninteresting for awhile…

And that’s not because of these moves. It’s because we’re good again.
