The Trouba waiving before his Limited NMC kicks in is just posters spinning their wheels.
His wife just started her residency at Lenox Hill Hospital. Minimum 3 years.
only a short-sighted jackass would want to get rid of Trouba. He's the reason the NYR advanced past Pittsburgh, as well as Carolina. Who else brings that kind of needed physicality in the playoffs?

That's on this coach how he is deployed with the man advantage... i'm not looking past his penchant for taking bad penalties at the worst times. but i feel the upside is worth it.

With all the Kakko trade talk I just wanted to say I'm strongly against that dicision. It would be the ultimate sell low move. Can already see him putting up 50+ points for the Canes next season. Bridge him. 2-3 year deal. He won't be expensive and his value can only go up in my opinion.

What gives you the slightest inkling that he would ever be traded to Carolina?

if he gets moved, it's almost 100% for sure going to be to a team out west.

Yes, most likely it will be west. Could see him in a package deal for Necas tho (if we don't resign Copp)

@Machinehead said it back during the pens series but I think it was a great observation - Panarin isn’t Crosby but he does have that ability to just pile up points no matter what. Give him a defensively responsible center and a cheap volume shooter on wing like the guys that get put with Crosby and suddenly rack up goals. We don’t need other expensive players with Panarin the way he plays, especially as the cap is becoming tighter.

In my proposed lines, neither pairing was the third pairing. Two equal second pairings with the same assignments.

Jones and Schneider go to the bench late game if needed.

The thing I like about Jones and Schneider being in is that it gives us a lot of options in addition to being a pair in their own right.

Someone's hurt? Jones is a PP option and Schneider is a PK option.

Can easily spread it around and have:

Lindgren - Fox
KAM - Schneider
Jones - Trouba

and then shorten the bench and have KAM and Trouba reunited if needed.

I also think Braun was good as our 7th D and stepped in easily for the third pair. I'd gladly have him back on a league minimum deal to fill that role again, but I also wouldn't be surprised if another team grabbed him at a slightly higher cost to play 3LD for a year.

Kakko would fit right in on Carolina, and not necessarily in a good way

Panarin Zibs Laffy
Kreider Chytil Kakko
Blais Copp Kravtsov
Motte Goodrow Hunt/Reavo

Is Copp worth that investment? Would he take 5x5 with limited to no trade protection?

honestly I would flip Chytil and Copp. Kreider Copp Kakko can actually be a matchup line.

Considering his p/g numbers this year, he was on pace for that w/o any power play time this year. Add another year of growth and he’s looking at 60+ points conservatively. If he makes a significant improvement in his speed/burst, that number takes a huge jump

This is quite cringy. Had to turn it off with a quickness.

These guys make it sound like the rangers can get anyone at any price because we are flush with cap lmao. Although I would figure a way out to sign Forsberg any way possible yes I understand that means no Copp... strome we know is gone ...ditch nemeth with an asset for a tough hard nosed center ideally gourde but to much money I believe 5.1

What do you guys think a Forsberg contract would look like just curious?

Well said couldn't agree more!!!

Panarin-Mika-Krieder
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kravtsov
Motte-Stastny-Kakko
Blais-Goodrow-Hunt/Reaves

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Braun/Z.Jones-Schneider

Igor
Charlie Lindgren

Continue to bank on internal improvement. We have our stars in place and locked up long term. Drury & Gallant now need to put everyone in a position to better succeed. Part of that is building a bottom 6 that plays defense and can shutdown opponents. Laf on PP1, KAM taking Trouba's spot on PP2. See if Chytil or Kakko can handle PK time. With rough estimates, the roster above has about ~2mil in cap space. Gives us deadline flexibility & flexibility for the summer of 2023.

I feel like this method is so risk adverse that it becomes really risky.

They shouldn't do anything too crazy this summer, but they also can't be afraid of moving pieces, both out of the system and possibly even the roster.

Some natural progression/internal promotion is fine. We know where the weaknesses on this team lie and I dont think the above does nearly enough to address most of it.

I hate loading up the top line like that too.

Fair points. I'm open to bringing back Copp instead of a true 3C like Stastny but I feel that Drury needs to clearly win that contract for me to feel ok with limiting our flexibility to sign our RFAs next summer. Miller & Lafreniere in particular look primed for big breakouts imo.

Even if they let both Copp and Strome walk I feel like doing nothing upfront other than adding Stastny and Kravtsov is just asking for problems. I'm all for adding Stastny, especially since they can probably get him for a year on a cheap deal and hes still a useful player.

They should do more to bolster themselves at forward though. The defense should literally be find a 7th guy and just play Jones as you suggested, that I'm on board with.

I wonder if, instead of bringing back Motte in this scenario, they go for a more veteran forward who can add a bit more than just defense & PK. We know theyve been interested in Reilly Smith. He can do everything and hes another Gallant favorite.

Remember we have Tinordi and Nemeth for a few more seasons.. 🤬 Tinordi for just next season and Nemeth for 2 more seasons. Need to waive and or trade them both somehow. Jones should have been here and stayed on the team this season.. Jones and Schneider would be a good pair next season and sign Braun as vet depth. He was good enough where I would bring him back. Solid dman.

Contracts aside, replacing Strome with Stastny is the same as just keeping Strome. It's still a center that will play with Panarin both 5on5 and on the PP.

I am not totally sold on Chytil becoming a 2nd line center, yet I think the Rangers need to find out.

To me all of Kakko, Chytil, Laff, Krav need somewhere to play if they are going to break out. Much like Miller did last year, does he do it if the Rangers sign someone better than Nemeth?

i'm guessing you weren't posting these things about Chytil prior to the playoffs. I want him to excel just as much as you you do... but he gets hurt alot and it's always when he starts to find his game... then it takes him some time to get back...
Actually if you look at my posts history - you'd see that I did a lot of this prior to playoffs throughout the year and earlier - prior to this season too.
