Here’s some wild speculation that I just pulled out of thin air. Wouldn’t it be crazy if Drury was the one who had Kaapo pulled out of game 6 because he didn’t want him getting injured because Drury’s has a blockbuster deal in place and Kakko is at its center of the deal.

no

I'm interested in the idea of adding speed.

I wonder if any fast centers are available because that's where we need help.

My only hesitation with Stastny is that he's slower than glue.

I also sort of think that the Rangers are just a slow team, adding two fast guys is just going to create a lack of chemistry, and they should just learn to play slower.

We'll see what they have in mind.

Hes also the type of guy the Rangers never end up going after.

Then again, so was Motte and they got him.
What, people who can skate at an NHL level?

I was jackassing on capfriendly this AM, if boston ends up moving Pasta and goes total retool, what about Erik Haula?

1 year left at 2.3. Good year last year. Played C but can play wing. Played for GG in Vegas where he also played well.

Could be a low risk stop gap and decent hedge if Fil doesn't step up.

Lmao, quality NHL players who aren't brand names.

I don't think you need a team of fast players to play fast, nor do I think that you can't combine fast and slow players. Stepan was slow as balls and was successful with guys like Gaborik, Nash, Kreider, Hagelin and MSL. if you're smart, you can make it work. IIRC Stastny played a good chunk of last season with Ehlers who can f***ing rip.

I'm not opposed to adding speed, but it has to come with other things as well. I guarantee they can be a better transition team just by playing Jones regularly and adding Kravtsov and doing nothing else. There needs to be some focus there, but finding guys who are better at retrievals and focusing on becoming a cycle based offense should really be their focus. Not only does it bode better for success in the playoffs, but with what they have here already its the easier route to go.

Someone tell me with surety that Ryan stroke won’t be back, please. Talk me off the ledge.

99% sure he is gone unless he decides he wants a one year deal to try to win the cup.

He's about to get paid and knows that can't happen here. He could probably get 6x6 from someone.

The Lightning have revolutionized the game. But it wasn't the 2020-22 Lightning, it was the '15 Lightning. Those little buggers were the ones who trailblazed the royal road. They realized why take a good shot but with with the goalie set and with clear sight when you can create a great shot.

And yet it's still in its infancy. We're still in like 2005 with the 3 point shot. The royal road revolution is coming. This current style of hockey is gonna be obsolete...quick.

Which is why my number one priority this offseason is to be ahead of the curve. And there is no better way to do that then to bring in one of those Lightning buggers. Perhaps the buggiest bugger of them all. Ty MF Johnson. And Chicago is gonna keep half his salary. And we're gonna put him shotgun with the Breadman. And we're gonna put his beautiful right handed shot in the Strome position on the league's best PP. And we are gonna be silly.

Trouba isn't going anywhere for the next 2 seasons, at least.

His NMC shifts to a modified NTC after the 2023-2024 season, at which point he can block a trade to 15 teams leading into 2024-2025, then can block to 12 teams leading into his last season of 2025-2026. His salary for the last 2 seasons is 6M.

People can bitch and moan about Trouba all they want. He had some rough moments this post season, no doubt. He was also very strong for them during the regular season. Losing him would open up a MASSIVE hole in their blueline. A hole you're not asking Schneider to fill next season, and maybe not even the season after.

If and when NYR move him, they need to be sure as shit that Schneider is ready. He isn't yet, not remotely.

Haha. Chytil was the best forward behind Zibanejad in playoffs. his performance curve was beginning to rise even earlier - somewhere between a month to two at the end of the regular season, yet you still question if he can solidify 3C role? Do you know he'd be barely 23 at the start of next season? What a joke.
i'm guessing you weren't posting these things about Chytil prior to the playoffs. I want him to excel just as much as you you do... but he gets hurt alot and it's always when he starts to find his game... then it takes him some time to get back...

You're giving Copp $5M+ to be a third line centre? Thats ATLEAST $8.6 million invested in 2 bottom 6 centres with no money to fill the 2nd line spot. Then you really are f*cked and have to hope Chytil follows up on his playoffs and breaks out.

I'm not prepared to pay 2 bottom centres that much money, and if Drury is, say goodbye to our window because we will not be able to keep the rest our lineup - as in lose young players due raises because of rash, reactive decisions and poor cap management.

If you are of the belief Copp is good enough to hold the 2nd line centre job for the next 6 years or whatever his term is, then sure as GM you'd sign him. But if you view him as a 3C like you said and like most believe, no matter how much you like the player, you cannot sign him to the contract hes going to get. Paying $5M+ for a 3rd line centre and $3.6 for your 4th is cap suicide and ultimately will be Stanley Cup window suicide
No no I'd do Copp if he is was ok with team friendly like 4.5 to also his versatility would help with injuries great hird line and now days you need 4 lines....so my point was to resign those 3 and Blais but
Find someone with a cost controlled center that has needs and enough centers that would want a possible cornerstone defenseman Jones lundquivst and then a forward like chytll or Kravy with anything else depending on who the cost controlled center is.

And of course there is the red button which I'd be against but Kakko plus for again another cost controlled center one that is a bit more proven. Just options but you then have 4 lines to roll all with some puck skill all can hold there own and the ability to scramble them around as they are familiar with others but you kept your guys and didn't have to ditch many of this years contributors besides maybe 1
