We're not buying out Nemeth. It only saves ~600k compared to just sending him to the AHL

It's actually a wash - just over a longer period of time. It doesn't save a thing. Either way, I'd rather not have his 1.5M (after demotion) x 2 or 3 out of 4 years @ 1M at all - particularly next year when we're really up against it.

If Panarin is really going to be dogshit at even strength moving forward, I disagree completely. Don't let him bring Zib down.

I'd throw him on the third and let him feast on the awful match ups at home against bottom pairing defenses.

Goodrow down to center the 4th line, Laf up to 1 RW, Othmann in Laf's old spot. Now you're cooking.

Panarin was T-22 in the league in 5v5 points. And he did it with his individual 2nd lowest sh% of his career and lowest on-ice sh% in 4 years (not super low, but lower than it had been). Can we stop with the constant hyperbole? Does he turn it over a lot? Are his possession numbers bad? Yes - all true. It's not important. There are plenty of players who outscore their possession numbers because they are great shooters or great passers. Someone like Patrick Kane has done that for years. Kane has had an xG < 50 7 years in a row and a positive GF% every year of his career but two. Panarin is still a very big asset 5v5 and basic statistical numbers that apply for the average very often do not work for the elite. Panarin has had GF60 > xGF60 every year of his career but one. This is extremely common for top players.

Yea for an extra 500k it doesn't make sense to extend it a couple of years - especially when the years it would be extended to are after certain players will be on their 2nd contracts.

Nemeth is movable but you'll need to add a sweetener to get it done. It cost a 2nd to get 1 year of Staal and his 5.7M cap hit off the books, however the real money I think was like 3M.

Nemeth has 2 more years @ 2.5 but the real money is 2.5 next season and 3.5 in the last.

You need to look at that 2.5cap hit and see it as your Tyler Motte money. They've got to bite the bullet and pay the price to get Nemeth off the books.

TB didn't lose their minds and blow up the team after every playoff loss. Maybe it's their market. Vinik is the best owner in The NHL. If TB was the Rangers, the media and the fans would fired Cooper and traded every player before they finally won in 2020. Cooper is a regular season coach. His teams can't win in the playoffs. Hire Babcock.

Sometimes you need to be patient which is in short supply here.

No to trading Kakko ever. If he busts he busts with us. And if he flourishes it’s with us.
So I guess you are still sad that Jessiman had those 2 games with the Panthers and not with us? if they can trade Kakko to improve the Rangers it should be done. Dach was selected 3rd overall that same draft and is a good player and a need for us. Big skilled center. His brother would add even more depth. Dach for Kakko isn’t a bad trade for both teams.

Whats blais going to cost? Would it make sense to just let blais walk if hes gonna get 2 mill and sign vatrano instead for 4 years 12 mill?

You're not? What if he asks you to?

Still no.

Kakko for Dach is a bad trade for us.

Not that we couldn’t use a Dach, but I’m not giving up a high potential forward for him.

I’ll give Lundkvist and a future first.

Dach is a step down from Kakko

Pretty sad how easily fans give up on players.

step down in which sense? He is a Center, he is 6'4" and he is 1 year younger

I dunno, at least Vatrano has a lethal shot.

Does Blais do anything that well? Career 20 point bottom 6 player.
Vatrano is a UFA and just had good season and playoffs, he will have some teams overpay him. Blais is RFA.

Kakko is younger than Kirby Dach and averaged more ppg this year than him.

I'm all for being patient but I am also for making this team better. Someone else mentioned it here, but you can't prospect hug if you want to win. Othmann, Cuylle, and Berard should all be safe and are going to hopefully be staples for this coming run. Deal from a position of strength. A trade for a center with a defenseman going the other way needs to happen to hedge against Chytil's durability.

One center is a necessity. A second would be the hedge against Chytil/Zibanejad durability.
