I honestly see him as a Rich Mans Nichuskin. He needs to keep developing and he will become extremely valuable down the stretch.

Hopefully it doesn't take 6 years....

Short version is that I don't think NYR can get in a trade the equivalent what Kakko could provide this team if he continues to develop. Great third line players are crucial for a playoff run.

I hope he takes the bridge deal, but I also hope GG starts using him more on the penalty kill. Losing Rooney, Strome, and possibly Motte could open up some of those situations for him.

I'd like to see Chytil on the PK too next year if he is around.

Goodrow-Copp
Zibby-Kreider
Chytil-Kakko

There is a lot to ponder as disappointed as I am I'm also very proud of this season still early but I do believe core will stay intact but I do worry about Kakko being part of a large trade. There are some different directions to go in but on player I personally covet to play on laffy line is Josh Anderson. That's a player who helps all in all facets athletic can score he is huge and could benefit from laffy dishes and also do what we didn't get to the net!!! Kreider will need to sacrifice if he is truly the silent captain and realize the future needs to develop.

Panarin - Zib - Kreider
Laffy - ??? - Anderson
Blais - Copp - Vetrano
Motte - Goodrow - Reaves

Lindy - Fox
Miller - Trouba
???? - Schneider

Now Chytll not a 3rd line player and he could work well on that 2nd line but I feel he and Kakko would be on a package or separate trades to acquire 2c Anderson and a dman to pair with Scheider to bring him along like the others.

Josh Anderson should be had from pool of young guys that didn't see playoffs as well as maybe Chytll. Etc

Kravy
Jones
Lundquivst
Chytll
Kakko
Robertson

I say all this but I'm not in the "trade Kakko" camp but he may have fallen out of favor and needs a change that's how maybe you can get a 2c a center prospect or a kind of established young center for a Kakko to a team winger needy center abundance.

To me sad as it is I love the above line up but am also loving it if Anderson who I really love is still Kakko but then you really need to get a really good 2c.

Dach is worth way more than that. Maybe Dach/Kakko?
yeah it would have to be Kakko.

I honestly see him as a Rich Mans Nichuskin. He needs to keep developing and he will become extremely valuable down the stretch.

Rich man's Nichushkin would be a top-5 winger in the NHL.

Personally, I'm not resigning Copp or Strome. Rangers may resign Copp because of deadline cost, but I wouldn't. Vatrano if he wants cheap deal, lets make it work. Braun and Motte walk, imo, although I really like Motte. Not sure what happens with Kakko after that scratch, only decision I've really ever had zero idea why it happened with Gallant. I roll into next season with Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere, Panarin-Chytil-Kakko, Blais-Goodrow-Kravtsov, Motte-???-Reaves.

On defense Miller-Fox, Lindgren-Schneider, Jones-Trouba. Let Jones&Miller man PP2. PP1 is Zib, Panarin, Chytil, Kreider, Fox. PP2, Laffy, Kakko, Vatrano/Kravy, Miller, Jones.

Shesty, cheap backup.

Should be able to have some cap space to grow for deadline acquisition of veteran centre/defensive help. Think growth of Laffy, Chytil, Kakko, + addition of Kravtsov and Blais for a full season should be enough to offset loss of Strome. Copp-like addition at deadine again would be key.

After next season, I think Trouba is gone as Schneider steps into his roll. Kreider should be named captain and play out his deal.

The injuries to KK and Blais hurt this team's depth this year, they were doing OK but those slick additions toward the deadline really put us over the top. Drury didn't need to give up the farm and go out and get the most talented players available, he got guys to fill roles and really add depth to this roster. He got a versatile utility forward, a hard nosed shooter, a 4th line PKer, and a veteran D-Man. This group they put together around the deadline was incredibly impressive and in their first trip back to the playoffs was 2 wins away from going to the cup... I dont think many changes need to be made here.

If Copp takes a cheaper deal, you slide Goodrow down to 4 and Copp is interchangeable with Chytil as 2/3C. I think it would he a massive mistake to pay Copp 5.5
I agree with you there, I wouldn't pay copp much more than that. I just don't think your center depth is good enough if Goodrow is the 3rd line center, which is why it was a mistake to pay him so much.

1 point, 6 shots on goal, -1, 34 CF%, 25 xGF%, in 9 games for playoff performer Barclay Goodrow
Absolutely disgusting

He was playing with a fractured foot, and continued to block shots with said foot. Advanced stats are fantastic, but they don't tell you the guts and balls a player plays with, or the intaginbles they do. I love Kreids, but Goodrow blocks the shot that Sergachev takes that goes off Palats shinpad and in net for Game winner in G5

They must have a short memory because Goodrow nullified Tony D in the Carolina series and was noticeably missing vs Letang.

Goodrow was part of one of the best 3rd lines in hockey when he won a cup with Tampa. I'd MUCH rather pay a little extra to build a similar 3rd line around him that spend 3.6 million on a 4th line centre.

5.5 is my MAX on Copp. I'd prefer 5 flat.

To be fair, he was playing on one leg

Andrew Copp is historically a 20-30 point player with 1 50 point season. Fast ? No Goal scorer? No, Grinder? No, playmaker? No. Good overall 3rd liner? Yes. I’m not paying 5 million plus for that.

Agree. He came in to the party having fun, throwing some east-west saucers.
But he really didn’t provide anything besides that funny comment he made to Drury after beating Carolina.
