If you're adding a bottom 6 winger at this point you want a guy that can pk and is defensively responsible. This team is too heavy with offensive talent and needs to fill out with 2 way depth down the lineup. And if you can find wingers that can pk and help in the dot that is a bonus. Kessel serves no point here? Is he playing 4th line rw? Vatrano is here now bc Drury wanted him here. Is your rw depth in a few weeks is lF, kakko, vatrano than you're bringing in Kessel on the 4th line which is just pointless. He isn't a guy that plays 7 mins a night at 5v5 since he won't be used on special teams (or if he is on pp2 they hardly get time). He doesn’t have to PK. Strome, Kreider, Zibanejad, Goodrow, Rooney are all regulars who already do. Do we need a team of 12 forwards who PK? Not wanting to add guys like this is how you get stuck with the black hole Third and fourth lines who can’t provide any offense which we have now. This organization and fanbase is so rigid about roles. The team doesn’t score enough at 5v5. He would help and reports are he won’t cost much. There’s basically no downside. There is no role or scenario that would make playing guys like brodzinski, mckegg, Hunt and such better than Phil Kessel. This applies to any of these trade guys discussed it doesn’t necessarily have to be Kessel. Kessel is bad defensively but I’m not super concerned with that with shesterkin in net. It’s more valuable to this team to being in guys who can provide offense and let Igor bail out the defensive lapses
Who are the best examples from the cap era?Butch Goring, Ron Francis are two best examples
That he’s old and plays on an expansion team that drafted poorlyWhat do the metrics tell us about Giordano this season?
Yea see no chance . He’s on the 1st PPFor the first time in a long time, I'd be 100% OK with turning Strome into something better at the deadline.
Anything coming up on your radar yet Bob?Games like tonight are going to embolden Drury.
I agree but not sure what that looks like. For the first time in a long time, I'd be 100% OK with turning Strome into something better at the deadline.
like Hagel embolden or Chiarot embolden?Games like tonight are going to embolden Drury.
Bill Guerin in 2009 when the Pens got him from the Islanders.Who are the best examples from the cap era?
Games like tonight are going to embolden Drury.
The Rangers need help on the top-2 lines, I don't know what this bottom-6 business is all about. We have plenty of forwards who are acceptable in those roles.
Ideally ReavesRooney will be back soon too. He's pretty important for this group. Rooney and Kaako back means McKegg and Brodzinsky come out. After that who sits for an addition? Vatrano? Hunt? Reaves? Chytil?
No. Both of those trades were very questionable to me. But if Copp and/or Giordano can be acquired for a 2nd and a prospect, both could be here. Running out of teams with first draft picks left to trade.like Hagel embolden or Chiarot embolden?
I’m fine with the next tierMaybe, but for who? All the big names are gone
I think you’re right he was UFABill Guerin in 2009 when the Pens got him from the Islanders.
Mark Recchi in 2006 for the Canes.
Not sure if Justin Schultz was a pending ufa in 2016 but he logged close to 20 minutes per night and had 13 points for the Pens when they won.
Who are the best examples from the cap era?
I didn't realize he was 38. PassThat he’s old and plays on an expansion team that drafted poorly
I’m fine with the next tier
