This applies to any of these trade guys discussed it doesn’t necessarily have to be Kessel. Kessel is bad defensively but I’m not super concerned with that with shesterkin in net. It’s more valuable to this team to being in guys who can provide offense and let Igor bail out the defensive lapses

If you're adding a bottom 6 winger at this point you want a guy that can pk and is defensively responsible. This team is too heavy with offensive talent and needs to fill out with 2 way depth down the lineup. And if you can find wingers that can pk and help in the dot that is a bonus. Kessel serves no point here? Is he playing 4th line rw? Vatrano is here now bc Drury wanted him here. Is your rw depth in a few weeks is lF, kakko, vatrano than you're bringing in Kessel on the 4th line which is just pointless. He isn't a guy that plays 7 mins a night at 5v5 since he won't be used on special teams (or if he is on pp2 they hardly get time).
 
Maybe we get lucky and Gio's stock drops a bit??? Hard to defend Nemeth anymore.
All for grabbing another forward like Vatrano but Nemeth might not be able to keep up with playoff hockey.
 
No point in going bonkers up front. Take a flyer on Kessel or Radulov or one of the Ottawa guys. See what Detroit wants for Leddy/Greiss and send Georgiev the other way.

Rooney will be back soon too. He's pretty important for this group. Rooney and Kaako back means McKegg and Brodzinsky come out. After that who sits for an addition? Vatrano? Hunt? Reaves? Chytil?

Not sure if Justin Schultz was a pending ufa in 2016 but he logged close to 20 minutes per night and had 13 points for the Pens when they won.

Who's in that tier?

There are no players worth giving up what their current asking price is. Unless its for a player with term.

Gio is not worth giving up a 1st and whatever else for him to play 3rd pairing minutes.

Rackell has fallen off a cliff and you would be giving up most likely a 1st and solid prospect.

I dont understand who you think Drury is going to run out for...
