So you want Schneider and Miller as the matchup 2nd pair as soon as when? No thought that might be too much too soon for a young d corps?

I don't think it helps us win immediately, but I don't think it ruins the players either.

It certainly can if the players become overwhelmed. Countless examples of this around the league where it haultes player development or caused regression. Sink or swim is rarely the best development model for young defenseman

It's not.

And I'm talking about the future, not today.
What future? How far along? Like I said before it makes no sense w the age of 3 of the teams 5 best players unless you want to tear it all down again which is silly.

It's not.

They are. They have the 2nd highest win % in the league. That might be an inconvenient truth for your narrative and team aspirations, but it doesn't make it any less true.

And, before you start throwing fancy stats and 5v5 stuff at me, YOU are the one that values winning above everything and those results are right in front of you whether you believe them to be a mirage or not.

Team GM's that are where the Rangers are aren't moving pieces like Trouba or Kreider for futures. It's just not realistic.

Pavelski and Reilly Smith would be my targets. Gourde too, but he would obviously be more than a rental.

Kreider-Zib-Kakko
Panarin-Pavelski-Strome
Lafreniere-Gourde-Goodrow
Reaves-Rooney-Hunt
(Blais - if he heals up)

Pavelski and Gourde would be my primary targets. If you can’t get both of the centers than Reilly Smith swaps in as the next target. Or he just might be cheap and worth getting over a center. But that forward group above can compete for a deep run

He's a placeholder for this season and maybe next. He'll be phased out once the Cullyes/Berrards/Othmanns of the world start turning pro.
All he has to do is grab some big bastard and throw him on his back....and he is a fixture here for 10 more years . The guy has the physical tools to do that . He just needs somebody to find that switch . If Gallant can't...then he is indeed very hopeless and just a bigger headless chicken Hagelin type of player .

Prepare to be pissed.
Ordinarily I agree with you.
But with chytil finding some success on the wing, and Barron playing solid, especially on the defensive side of the puck and at the dot, I’d say the odds are better he stays up today then they were yesterday.... at least I hope.
Kreider-Zibby-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Chytil
LaF-Barron-Goodrow
Hunt-Rooney-Reaves
ex Gauthier

better and more balance then inserting McKegg anywhere in that line up.
Even if Gallant wants to switch Rooney/Barron.
Hopefully they finally see the light...

NYR social media platforms probably have more fan engagement when we suck than when we are good unlike most teams whose “fans” disappear (ahem Isles).

to Butch’s credit though, if he played today he’d be an excellent AHL level player.

this has been my thinking for a long long time.
I don’t even have a problem overpaying a bit, just so long as it’s the right guy.
Not necessarily the highest profile, flashiest, big ticket Center.
But kakko/LaF are going to need to get top 6 min and hopefully 1 of them will get consistent 1PP time as well
Someone mentioned it in the game day thread last night and they are absolutely correct

that needs to be our top 6 next year

I’d even be good with hertl between those two young guys

We shouldn't be all in this year, there's too much of a gap between Florida, Tampa, Vegas, etc and us to think we have a snowballs chance in hell of winning the cup even if you add a piece or two.
Agree, I think we”ll be bargain shoppers which is fine. I’d like for us to get a top 6 RW like Smith or Radulov and a bottom 6 all round guy like Larsson, Jarnkrok, or Namestnikov. Finally a Competent depth D who can play both sides like Holden or Kulak. I think the prices will be low for these tupes of guys.

Rangers are something like 8 - 10 - 1 against current teams in playoff position. What does it mean, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Another stat someone throws out there without truly looking behind the numbers. Where we have struggled is against the top teams in the West. Specifically Vegas, Colorado and Calgary. You back out those losses and we are 8-4-1. Big difference right? Point is we can compete with the East and make a run in the playoffs. I really dislike when people throw out these stats without knowing what they are talking about.

my count is 9-8-1...and of the 9 losses 7 of them were without shesterkin and only the win against the ducks without him.
