Gettinger does nothing out there. Like nothing. Greco was fine. McKegg and Gettinger should be sitting. But Greco was already reassigned so its a moot point.

Gauthier has been doing nothing since he got here so whats the difference. I'm no gettinger fan but he was throwing hits every shift so thats something.

Gourde is the guy that makes the most sense, both for this year and the next few when we’re contending. Ideal third line center for this team. Wondering how much it would cost to get Seattle to retain 50% as we could then still afford Strome or similar 2c after this year.

Something like Lundkvist, Kravtzov, and our first? Seems like a lot but imo would turn us into a contender. Likely Kreider would stay on the first line with Chytil or Laf on the third, but I’d love to see a killer checking line with:

Laf-Zib-Chytil
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Kreider-Gourde-Goodrow
Hunt-Rooney-Reeves

Only on this board would someone be crazy enough to suggest putting a non entity like Chytil on the first line. Totally ridiculous.

If you told me when Gorton sent the letter that we'd miss the playoffs for four straight seasons and the next time we'd make it we'd be locked into a cast of underwhelming, expensive veterans with a phenom defenseman and goaltender, I would've been shocked considering the letter said the team was going for a different direction.

Our only highly paid player who has been underwhelming to start the year but has since been turning it on is Zibanejad

Kreider and Trouba have both had fantastic years, but I guess if you're stuck on the complaint routine then you might as well throw them in there for convenience sake

I wish there was a way to acquire Hertl and keep him on the team beyond this year while not losing Strome, but it just isn't feasible; even with shipping out guys like Chytil and Nemeth. However, we would have the space to acquire him, another winger rental (Reilly Smith rumors start churning soon), and then choose between Hertl/Strome for next year. Blais comes back as well.

Anyone paying attention wouldn't need that chart to know this. Our play 5v5 leaves a lot to be desired. We can't seem to create chances because nobody on the top 2 lines wants to go the the dirty areas of the ice. That perfect tic-tac-toe play is just 10 passes away.

Duclair was the last legit prospect they traded. I remember everyone getting irrational about Saarela for Staal but every other deadline deal has mostly been for picks

I love an am satisfied with Miller and Lindgren in the top four.

I am very happy with Miller's progression given when he was supposed to debut to where he is now in the span of one calendar year. He was not supposed to even be in the conversation until this fall at earliest.

Lindgren is getting underrated for what he brings.
Tons of teams would love to have him in their top 4.
Just putting Chycrun with Fox doesn’t guarantee they’ll be better or have more chemistry

I agree and I’m one of the more traditionally minded/anti-analytics guys here, but many people seem to be in denial and say we’re playing good. I think we look worse than we did under Quinn and this backs that up.

Or if the Rangers scored more of their goals at the right times lol. At least before the end of the season last year they had a very good goal differential but the record wasn't reflecting it.

Based on the additions and trades this past offseason, I’m curious why some feel the organization has their eye on more skill players? It would see that Drury and his team have an outline for what this team, if it were to win, will need. I would also say that based on the depth chart as it currently sits, would leave a 3rd line spot clearly open. That’s why guys like Lehkonen make a lot of sense. He can both help now and moving forward.

Because they are 6th worst in 5v5 GF60.

They should be trying to improve the offense and play high scoring run and gun games where they trade chances back and forth. Trying to improve team defense and such is a waste when you have one of the best goalies in the league.

Imo he needs to play whether they plan to keep him or not.

I think even if you can get kratsov over here, you have to give him 1-2 games in the AHL. even a token "you cant skip the line " concept.
otherwise it could send a bad message to those players who are putting in AHL time.

If he doesn't come over we're left with a lesser asset, think its time to stop with the dick measuring contest and let him play given he is ready to be an NHL'er. Then decide if you want him around or not once his trade value is elevated.

getting him into 1-2 ahl games isnt a dick measuring contest, its a we have all these kids following the rules, we have kids in the future we want to follow the same rules.

I guarantee he isn't flying here to go to Hartford, if Drury wants to try that route he won't be here and he should know that by now.

Interesting example is Pavel Datsyuk who didn't have a noteworthy post-season in the NHL until he was basically 29

This concept that we can just load up and then we will be able to go for it for 1 or 2 years with all sorts of kids and green playoff players is kind of bafflingly ignorant. I just don't understand it.
