Speculation: Roster Building Thread - Part XXVI

That’s how special players are, they have that it factor. Barron is on the same level of player as those AHL guys, Kravtsov is so far ahead them that he can’t read players who are that bad. It’s like if Kravtsov was running a race on a track, he’s so far ahead that he’s lapped them and now looks like he’s behind. Gauthier produces in the AHL too, yet couldn’t score a goal in the NHL if his life depended on it.

I don't really get where you're coming from. Granted, I won't have watched as much of Kravtsov as most on here due to timezones and all that, but he hasn't looked out and out amazing at all. What are you seeing that I (and evidently the Rangers FO) am not? As far as I can tell, the only time in his career he's consistently produced at a high level is that playoff run he had with Traktor in the year we drafted him.

So unless Lundkvist continues to be up top on PP2 I don't see a good spot for Paju as the roster is currently constructed. He seems like a PP specialist like Mike Cammalleri.

You might be right with Paju. But his issue right now is his size and ability to absorb NHL contact. In the A and in preseason he was all over the puck. He's a surprisingly good puck hound. He's shown more good instincts in his brief stint than guys like Brandon Pirri. A lot of it is going to come down to how strong he becomes. If he can show he is able to play in traffic and be effective and absorb contact, retrieve pucks he'll have a career. If he wears down or just can't seem to handle it, he'll go back to Europe and have a very big career. I think he has a lot more Fast in his game than I ever expected. So I have hope for him as there's usually always room for a guy who can play a well rounded game and has a laser for a shot. He and Barron are similar in that respect -- they're path to the NHL and sticking is similar.

Isn't he like, one out of four left in the league to not get their COVID vaccine? He won't be able to play in home games or in Canada if I understand the rules correctly. Hard pass.

He’s nowhere near an elite talent. Good size/skill package, which is why we drafted him at 9, but he hasn’t made any giant leaps in his progression. Compound that with his attitude problem and it’s just not a tremendous loss for the team.
He still hold value cause he’s still young and it’s worth the gamble for some team to play him and hope he becomes a 50/60 pt maybe more type player
 
Damn. What do the lines look like now? I assume McKegg stays in—Gallant had him out there protecting the lead last night.

This sounds to me that kakkos injury might be pretty serious.
Depending on how Barron/chytil perform, Stromes butthole is probably puckered up to the size of a decimal point.
They didn’t call up Barron to have him sit

That should only be 2-3 games, no?

I’m sure there’s a quiet FU to Krav in this move as well. But Barron ain’t gonna play wing most likely either.
I finally get to see a clip of games together with Zibby-Chytil-Barron as 1-2-3.
Just sucks it took a kakko injury and strome covid for it to come in a round about way
 
At this point, what's the harm of bringing Eric Staal in? Legs are cooked but he's a warm body and would bring some leadership and veteran presence to this group.

Switch Blais and Goodrow in your first line up and that’s what I’d run to start.
Can always move a guy up or down depending whose hot/who doesn’t gel.

krav much feel like a huge schmuck right about now.

Yea, depending if kakko is ready to go after a week or not.
I don’t trust ranger injury reports I always prepare for the worst hope for the best
