Sixstring
Derek Grant is an absolutely atrocious player who would immediately become the worst player on the team - worse than Greg McKegg. Why would we claim him?
timing wasn't right. We're still evaluating what's what. VK speeding it up possibly but I still think it's next offseasonWe all know the targets, but if those were options they would have happened before VK asks for a trade. It's not like he becomes more valuable in trade talks after he asks to be traded...
We’re not getting back anyone better than Chytil for that imo let’s see what he can do first in a top 6 roleI think he gets used in a massive move.
Kravtsov + Lundkvist/Jones+ for a young top6 center.
He’s better than McKegg and is good on faceoffs. He wouldn’t be a bad pickup and he adds some vet presenceDerek Grant is an absolutely atrocious player who would immediately become the worst player on the team - worse than Greg McKegg. Why would we claim him?
It wont be this season IMO. I like the idea of Larkins speed and 2way game, I do not like it if he's going to cost well over $7M. The ideal scenario is he has a bad season in Detroit and we sign and trade for him at a reasonable cost. We’re not getting back anyone better than Chytil for that imo let’s see what he can do first in a top 6 role
Even if he has a bad year he is getting paid as a ufa. You think Seattle isn't going to be knocking on his door? The ducks? If he has a bad year it will get chalked up to Detroit sucks right now. Cap may not be an issue. Fox will get paid, sure.... but I could see Kakko and Laf getting reasonable 3-5 year deals once the time comes

Not really, I'm just being realistic. You don't think Larkin's getting at least $500,000 more than kreider is right now if he hits the open market?you're like a storm cloud today

Really don’t see the point or why Thomas would be moved. They don’t have room for Kravtsov and Lundkvist would only be stuck behind Parayko/Faulk. Only way STL trades him is possibly in a deal for one of the Tkachuk’s, if evenRobert Thomas? More of a playmaker then Chytil, let the two duel over the next 2 years for that 2c spot. I think he could fit well on a line with Krieder if we move him back to the left side
He will still have value but that's why I see him being packaged for a bigger target. I expect him to get around $7M. That's why I said 'well over $7M'Not really, I'm just being realistic. You don't think Larkin's getting at least $500,000 more than kreider is right now if he hits the open market?
I want just like everybody for things to break right for this team, and I'd love to see them be able to make these fairy tale trades that keep getting proposed here but the reality is that rarely happens, and it gets really frustrating reading people try to devalue players on other teams for whatever reasons and then pretend that those same concepts of devaluation don't apply to NYR players or assets.
Right now Jones is more valuable than kravtsov. Jones played in the NHL, contributed at that level, showed that he can play both ends of the rink, and didn't mope and cry when he got cut before the season. Kravtsov produced very little with his NHL time, and has now twice cried and whined when he didn't get his way at the NHL level and had to go to the miners to prove himself, and now wants a trade bc he wanted a rooster spot handed to him.
I failed to understand why other teams would be lining up to try to take that on. He's not top 10 draft pick value anymore, he's disgruntled, unproven player who has an opt-out clause to go back to Russia if he's not on an NHL roster. That's not really that attractive for a team to acquire him and deal with the headache. We've seen over the years how these kind of trades work out their teams, and they usually don't get a ton of value back
At this point VK is a minor addition to any deal for something significantHe will still have value but that's why I see him being packaged for a bigger target. I expect him to get around $7M. That's why I said 'well over $7M'
1 for 1 wont net us anything special imo.

I was the conductor of the Bennett train and Dvorak train.Sam Bennett . . . oh the Fla power house traded for him last year
Can’t cry over Bennett when the Rangers could not have matched that offerSam Bennett . . . oh the Fla power house traded for him last year
Don't count on it. Dallas is going to keep him for the long term. He just signed an extension two years ago.Still thinking about Lindells game against us.
We need this guy!

Larkin would be a good add, but I think it’s very unlikely Detroit moves him at this point. Yzerman will likely sign him to a big deal. They have a real solid farm and it looks like some guys are coming along faster then expected. Even Rasmussen looks like he’s finally developing into a 3C role instead of busting. Bertuzzi looks solid, Raymond is coming, etc. they are going to need some vets. There may have been talk of moving him in the offseason, but he’s young enough and he’s a hometown kid and their captain.I was the conductor of the Bennett train and Dvorak train.
I really dont see anything out there right now besides Larkin. Barron deserves a shot tbh
