Yeah, I spend hours desperately pining for winning player acquisitions from a team I want to lose.

Sorry that Pizza Boy being called out for his shitty GMing bothers your homer sensitivities. When he does something good besides screw up our rebuild and get us on the path to actually being a contender he’ll be duly recognized.

You're a weird dude

It’s bickering.

There are obviously no final conclusions drawn on Drury yet but early returns are not good and it’s totally fair to say that.

Notwithstanding some numbskull’s dumb assertion that I just “don’t like,” Drury and want to see the team lose.

It's not fair to say that without results to base his moves on. Your opinion predated the finish of game one. I'll disagree with your "early returns" statement as we don't have those yet. The team needs time together before we can assess much of anything.

Hello, welcome to the 21st century. Have you met social and sports media? Not only is it fair to judge moves before knowing final season outcomes, it's practically inevitable.

Fans who keep up with their team in detail can have a sense of whether moves are trending in the right direction or the wrong direction before the puck is dropped. It's also possible that they are wrong, but insight can certainly be derived before play begins. If a team says "We are entering a rebuild," and trades away all its stars, it's fair to ascertain that the team got worse, no?

Drury's moves are fair game just like Gorton's before him. We were all excited that they were making the right moves, no one came on here and lectured that we had to wait and see if it was good news that we traded for Adam Fox.

There is obviously a valid argument that the team needed toughness, there is also a valid argument that we went overboard with it and didn't focus on continuing to add (or maintain) skill as well.

This is why there is no "final" determination yet - no one is saying he should be fired. But it's completely valid to say some of these moves don't look so wise so far and he better improve. It might be wrong - we could win the Cup this year, nothing physically prevents it, and then we'd have to eat crow. But its still valid at this point to say that it doesn't look great.

TLDR

.

No. One game into a season (and you technically didn’t even wait that long) is far too early to determine the success or failure of moves made over the summer. You’re entitled to a different opinion on that matter but I won’t agree with it.

And I’m certainly not going to debate hypothetical nonsense either. Let’s move on.

And now we've lost the top valuation spot. What's next this week? Any good guesses? I wouldn't be surprised if Mika's head fell off at this point.

I might be in the minority here but i am more pissed off at the handling of Miller than Kravtsov.

Miller desperately needs to be demoted to learn how to actually play defense. He is not going to learn in the NHL, and he should be forced here. Being up Jones. He already can think the game.

kravtsov just needs to stop being a bitch and dominate the AHL for like a week or two and he would be up here probably for good.

THE ATHLETIC: Rick Carpiniello reported a source informed him Vitali Kravtsov’s demotion by the New York Rangers to their AHL affiliate in Hartford had nothing to do with him being waiver-exempt. Instead, it was based on his mediocre performance during training camp, the lower-body injury that cost him part of camp and preseason play, and the belief of GM Chris Drury and head coach Gerard Gallant that the winger needed more developmental time.
Kravtsov has been suspended by the Rangers for his unwillingness to report to the minors and his agent has been given permission to speak to other clubs about a trade. Carpiniello also indicated the young winger at times butted heads with Drury during 2019-20 in Hartford.
What purpose could it possibly serve to leak information to Carp suggesting that Kravtsov had a bad camp and butted heads with Drury? It certainly wont increase his trade value. Do they want to force Kravtsov's hand and compel him to report to Hartford? Why wouldnt he just exercise his KHL clause?

This is a gallery of blunders.

Well there’s multiple issues with this. First off carp never knows shit. Secondly it could be Vitaly Pisspant’s agent leaking it to try and force their hand. So I’m not sure the team leaking this is the most logical.

Would an agent really suggest their client had a bad camp?

I have no idea. After watching last night, I find it unbelievable that a player wouldn’t put their head down for a week or two, seeing how many gaps in the lineups there is. I don’t find anything out of Kravtsov’s camp rational. It’s very emotional.

Whenever information leaks out like this, I ask myself who’s benefitting from this information being public

It makes Kravstov look even more like a child than he already is, so it’s not him.

It paints the team in a slightly more favorable light, but ultimately may hurt his trade value.

So I assume someone with the team feed this to Carp to make them look less like idiots for letting it get to this point. “Look how unreasonable he’s being, how could we deal with this?”

They might be getting ready to park him in Chelyabinsk again. The coach there seems like the only coach he’s ever been able to get along with. It’s dumb, but so was the Puljujarvi drama and Edmonton got their player at the end of it.
