Gauthier had like 5x more scoring opportunities than Kravtsov, but didn’t score while Kravtsov did.

I know that’s not everything though. Especially for someone playing bottom six minutes.

thats the thing though. No one is questioning whether kravtsov is more talented. We know he is. But he’s not playing on the PP here. Not now probably not ever.

Gauthier plays a straight ahead speed game draws penalties goes to the net. Knew it from the first game gallant would like him. I’m actually surprised he’s not in the lineup over Hunt. That’s the real surprise to me. Maybe he’s done enough to get traded? We’ll see. But he’s a much better bottom 6 fit than kravtsov is at this time.

If I recall the Rangers did this last year to save and accumulate cap space. “Sending guys down” but never actually sending them down. Hope it’s that.

Not mad about Kravy going down. He will be back up soon.

I have to be honest though, not sure how his game fits on this team, given the new "makeup" and "identity" wanted on the lower lines.

Too skilled for a 3rd line / no PP time player. Maybe thats what they want to give him with max time the Pack. He also didnt play any games over the summer (his own admission) and with his injury he hasnt skated in enough games in preseason.

I dont think it hurts either (and maybe this was a contrived move by Drury) to send him down to see how he reacts given his history to not making the cut in the past.

A little test, per se.

It's clear the team doesn't want to lose any of the guys still up for nothing. Which means they value guys like Tinordi, Gauthier, Hajek

as soon as the games start, guys get dinged
already had Reeves, Strome and Krav get dinged in preseason

gonna need that deep bench,
NO genuine urgency to force irreversible moves ...

I can’t see Kravtsov responding well to being demoted back to the AHL. It’s the reason why he left to Russia in the first place.

If thats the case, so be it. Hard to put together a winner with selfish, immature players.

But I dont think that will be the case. He will take it like a man and be back up soon.

I still dont understand why he wasnt included in the bonding trip, considering he was possibly a big part of this team going forward. Maybe they felt they would send him down all along to get more pro games in NA with top time.

I do think the Rangers want to get off to a hot start and if they have reservations about his readiness and ability to play within the system, then this is best course with a lot of veteran forwards brought in.

I really have no problem with it.

People torched Jim Benning for Gadjovich going on waivers, losing him to SJS, and keeping guys like PDG and Petan on the roster. Then torched him again for being forced to trade their former 5th OA pick in Olli Joulevi to Florida for anything to prevent another waiver wire PR nightmare. At this point, we wouldn't mind losing Hajek for nothing and the PR wouldn't be as bad as losing a former 5th OA even if Libor is the 2nd last piece left from the Tampa trade. This is preferable management to Benning's oh well this is the way we feel today so off on waivers you go.

Gotta love the overreactions. Do you guys live your regular lives like this? Running around like chickens with their heads cut off, sky is falling, the end is near?

Haven’t you watched enough pro sports to realize teams make temporary moves to get the most of their assets?

It’s an 82 game season. Kravtsov and Nils weren’t going to play all of them. Tinordi and Hunt will play some. So why not the first game when there’s an additional reason, plus it gives them extra time to try moving Hajek for anything.

Stop crapping your our diapers over everything.

When? The first game where he got the most 3 star votes on the team? Go back and read the GDT. Or the second game where he played one period then got injured? Kravtsov far outplayed Gauthier. All Gauthier does is go on rushes where he skates really fast and loses the puck. Same as he always has.

You don’t win a spot on the team after the first game of preseason…..and really no one was great against the Islanders that night.

Blais Chytil Goodrow can be a hell of a two-way checking line. Really looking forward to this unit sticking together as well as the fourth line rotation between Reaves/Hunt/Gauthier with Rooney.

I don’t expect Kravtsov to be in Hartford very long. He just oozes talent. That said his point production has always lagged a bit for the skill I see. Three or four weeks on the top line in Hartford might be a good way for him to build up his scoring confidence…..if he’s even there that long.

On the question of Hajek. I don’t want to give the guy away for free either. His days seem numbered to me but he’s still young and still has good potential.

For me the two most superfluous signings this summer were Tinordi and McKegg. I don’t mind McKegg in Hartford though.

This feels like a paper move, in the sense that Hajek needed to pass through waivers whereas Kravtsov does not. I predict that Kravtsov is staying in New York and will be in the lineup in Game 2.

They're going to have to ditch one of the waiver eligible guys or send Nils down then. They're carrying 23 players with Kravtsov and Barron in Hartford.

It's much harder for players to be claimed when the season starts. Rangers sent down players who could slide down without having to worry about passing through. They're definitely carrying grit for the game against Washington. We've got 23 players already with 12 F, 6D, 2 G, and Lundkvist, Gauthier, Hajek. Hopefully when this game is finished, moves will be made to get Krav back up.

This is asset management. We're trying to get some value out of Hajek and possibly Gauthier.

What does it matter if Kravtsov is here and not playing? or on the 'AHL roster' and not playing? Has it been clarified if he's going or if it's just a paper move?
