Paper transaction/AHL bound or not, the point that should be taken here is that he is not in the starting lineup for game 1. Coaches put out lineups to win the game; *at this very moment* Vitali is not integral to winning games, in general, to the management committee. That is the bigger story for Vitali fans.

It's also possible that his injury was the kind that requires some more care and slow progression. Not that he needs to miss time, just that he may not be clearly 100% yet

Likely trying to buy time to make a deal for Hajek so they don't lose him for nothing. Zero sense carrying 8 D long term.

Honestly outside of that last game...kravtsov hasn't looked great this preseason. Gauthier far outplayed him.

Get games in the AHL or ride the pine? (If the reason for the move wasn't to buy time to make a trade to not lose players for nothing.

i mostly agree, but some coaches like 8 D on roster better, for practice/drill days
i know lottsa guys here like to dump on Hajek, and maybe Gauth,
but the smart play is to give them time with the new staff, maybe they earn a role
i would waive Tinordi before Hajek, i believe he is less likely to be claimed

Think it was either Edge or Bobbop that said Tinordi would more then likely get claimed. There was bidding for him to get signed.
Frankly Kravtsov was outplayed by Gauthier. Goat deserves the spot.

This I would agree with. Although as a 7/8 he's not so bad. I think back to the days of Eric Reitz being the teams #7 d-man and think, this has to be better right?
Although no one compares to Strudwick...
Side note - I just looked up Christian Backman's stats and holy hell, his possession stats were actually REALLY good

Yes it was the preseason, but Tinordi looked better than most days of recent year Staal, Smith, Hajek, Johnson, etc. Karpa he is not.

When? The first game where he got the most 3 star votes on the team? Go back and read the GDT. Or the second game where he played one period then got injured? Kravtsov far outplayed Gauthier. All Gauthier does is go on rushes where he skates really fast and loses the puck. Same as he always has.

Gauthier had like 5x more scoring opportunities than Kravtsov, but didn’t score while Kravtsov did.
I know that’s not everything though. Especially for someone playing bottom six minutes.

Gauthier has no finish. He doesnt score enough to play top 9 minutes and doesnt play physical enough for a 4th line role. He doesnt PK either. Krav should be with the team. I dont mind them keeping Gauthier, but they should move on from Hajek.
Worth a shot. Might make the team instead of getting sent to Hartford again.

I don’t expect Vitali to be down there long. If he is, he’s not going to want to stay.
If he’s looking at a half/full year of AHL duty, I’d expect he asks for a trade
