maybe Zibanejad getting extended messed with the idea of who would be captain. Like they didn't want to give it to him without an extension, were considering someone like, Trouba, then Zibanejad gets extended and Gallant wants to back off making a decision
Just making up ideas, who knows.

As for the line up, I'm mediocre on Kravtsov being out of the lineup but as long as this doesn't become a thing then whatever. Part of the problem is that even if the Rangers and Caps don't reallllllllly care about the Wilson thing it's been talked up and blown up so much now that something basically has to happen.

I figured Tinordi would play game one instead of Lundkvist, but Hunt in over Kravy is surprising. At least Hunt can play hockey so I can't complain too much. This game has the possibility to get out of control so I definitely don't mind sitting Lundkvist sitting this one. We'll find out right away how useful Tinordi will be as well.

What's nice is that this team, even sitting two young skilled guys, has a ton of offense in the lineup.

It's going to be an entertaining first game- but I think the key will be making sure we end up with more powerplays than Washington.

Could be a trade in the works for Hajek and/or Gauthier. It could be that 2 of Kravtsov, Barron and Lundkvist will be sent down temporarily, even if only as a paper transaction, until a deal is made. Maybe they are just hoping to sneak a couple players to Hartford by waiting to waive them, so they'll send down 2 players who don't need waivers and then waive Hajek and/or Gauthier after rosters are set.

I really think they want Barron on the big club, they’re not really sure how to navigate it at the moment though.

PLD will be two years away from group III. Is the player interested in signing in Winnipeg long term? He had a tough adjustment in Winnipeg last season. When he was traded to Winnipeg last season, I remember listening to a podcast and it didn't seem Winnipeg was a top destination on his list. 31 Thoughts? He had no say in the matter. I know his father is an assistant coach with the Manitoba Moose. His father won't be coaching there for eternity. If Dubois doesn't want to commit to Winnipeg long-term, they have to move him at some point.

Dubois has played with Panarin. He has played with Russian players in junior. He talked about that in the podcast. PLD would be the perfect player for the Rangers. The Rangers missed the opportunity to land ROR in 2013. If Dubois becomes available, the Rangers should be in the front of the line.

If Chytil becomes the Rangers #2 center and he becomes the all around two way player, then the conversation ends.

I haven’t read or seen anything that said he didn’t want to go the Winnipeg. Only thing I remember seeing was that Winnipeg would be an option because of the family connections. I’d take him on the team yesterday but there’s been no indication thus far that would suggest he’s going to be traded by Winnipeg, a win now team that just traded Laine for him.

Barron getting sent down isn’t surprising. I’d have to imagine Kravstov is temporary for this first game
